Damn that’s scary, sorry that happened to you. Thanks for sharing that. So far I’ve only used them in my house plants, but read they could be useful in grows.
The research is lacking in cases like this, so anecdotal experiences are important.
Good to hear you got everything under control.

thanks bigworm (& ladybird for chiming in)! was just curious as that was another factor i wanted to rule out. i'm sure fungus gnats can cause horrible problems in larger numbers but dunno how likely just having 1 or 2 are gonna spread contams. but i guess it could just be the right contams to help something flourish in an otherwise healthy tub... idk. it can be a real bitch to chase down contams sometimes. been down a huge rabbithole of tightening up my technique but still hitting issues. i will say, i switched from oats awhile back & have zero desire to ever use oats again lol. unless it's insanely cheap & you have good luck with them... bottom tier grain imo. WBS/wheat have been infinitely better ime

dude yeah that allergic reaction thing sounds gnarly. there's always the chance there is some funky shit in those kinds of things that just aren't on the label. i know some pest strips can be super bad for your pets & you're not supposed to be around certain ones too long. better safe than sorry in those scenarios.

White water went to tubs today! Bluey is looking great so far and the enigma seems like it’s doing okay I think. Just has a lot of aerial myc ( at least I’m hoping that’s what it is ). How is everybody else doing!?

got all 15 or so of my cultures to plates! i have 5 in distilled water storage & all the rest will be getting one more transfer to ensure clean looking growth & then go into distilled storage. i’ve been having weird troubles with my grain & tubs lately so i’m trying to troubleshoot that before i get most of them going… hopefully will be posting some canopy pics somewhat soon

also on what is bluey a cross of? i found panama x MVP when i googled but it was all on reddit posts so i wanna double check lol. thinking of making a little journal for all my varieties & their genetic lineage just so i can keep it straight

Small update. SNAPE tub failed completely. I knew it was inevitable but figured maybe worth a try. It went to my garden this morning.
Better news is my Mac 95 is still rolling and looking good! They remind me of Doris the bowler hat from Meet the Robinsons.

I hope the ALT#7 are supposed to look like this when making stones. It seems a bit watery. I would never send grains that were this wet to bulk. Stones are looking good though 👍.

Still no pins on the Yeti:shrug:. Anyone got a time frame for them to pin?
Mak 118 is knotting, so I'm expecting pins soon.

Alrighty, got Ape, Country Cock, AA, Yeti, Bluey Vuitton, and the PE Lc to grain.
Making up more grain jars today for more inoc’s. Definitely Machine Elf and Melmac, maybe more.

I can’t find much info on Bluey Vuitton, but it sure makes a purdy plate!

R.I.P to my enigma tub :crymeariver:
The bluey is still looking good and should go to fruiting by the weekend. The white water was just s2b’d the other day but is looking great so far. I also have an unrelated Jack Frost that is ready and a rusty melmac revert. Not related to these genetics we were gifted I’m just trying to make myself feel better I guess haha.

I can’t find much info on Bluey Vuitton, but it sure makes a purdy plate!

This was the most I could find. Not sure how true it is but here you go.
Bluey Vitton has a history that starts circa 2014. This variety is a Hybrid born and “worked” originally by “Silly Cybin”. Bluey Vuitton is a hybrid of Panama X Melmac PE.

In 2014 “Silly Cybin” was in Santa Cruz CA, hanging out near the beach when he encountered a man who seemed to be a traveling transient. They got into conversation about many things from quantum physics to living at Jerry Garcias house. He explained to “Silly Cybin” that he had chocolates of a mushroom he found on his travels in Panama. He claimed they were the best and gave “Silly” a foil spore print he took from his pocket. The print looked like you would imagine a foil spore print would look after traveling in ones pocket for who knows how long, crumpled up. Perhaps a little doubtful, “Silly” went ahead and decided to cultivate these Panama’s. To his surprise they were amazing, and the spores were clean.

“Silly” went back to the beach to try and find the fellow. No luck at the beach, but he ended up bumping into him at a local Falafel shop! They chatted a bit and the traveler mentioned he had a Melmac PE he wanted to share. Upon sharing spores of his Melmac, he explained to “Silly” his time was up and he was heading north to Klamath falls OR. And just like that the man was gone.

When Silliy Cybin got to work on the Melmac spores mainly because of how impressed he was by Panama. The Melmac’s were totally contaminated, and nothing ended up surviving. In a last effort to find his new traveling friend, he headed back to the falafel shop in hopes he’d see him along the way. He never found him again, and to this day has no idea what the man’s name was. “Silly” went into the falafel shop and the lady working told him the man left something for him. The traveler left more spores, and in time this batch of PE Melmac were good to go.

Sometime down the line “Silly” was working on some hybrid projects and managed to cross the travelers Panama X Melmac PE and Bluey Vuitton was born. Although Blue Vuitton is not a brand new genetic and has floated around the underground network of mycelium nerds. We are happy to have had a chance to work with this beautiful genetic as it has shown some awesome variables in look and production.

Gill formation – Gills typically are medium to large, wide range of formation. Likely to have available gills for spore production.

Microscopy features – Purplish brown spores and albino.  Spore measure 7 x 12 micrometers. This variety Bluey Vuitton does not typically discharge spores. But has dropped spores from time to time. Germination of spores will often be observed having clamp connections and fine feathered mycelium. Microscopes and magnification equipment is recommended for viewing microscopic features.

Rare varieties of psilocybe

Lol wow, wasn’t expecting that! Please tell me you copied and pasted that
Sounds believable enough to me, knowing Santa Cruz. Used to live there.
Well shit, thanks for finding that Bigworm!

Gave the Mac 95 the chop today. I'm really impressed with these. I did not tare the scale with the bowl but it weighs 330g. Take that from 1305g and get 975g. Add the 255g from the ones I couldn't fit in the bowl and end up with a grand total of 1230g wet. So I usually wind up with 7% of wet weight(I'm not sure what Buddaking ends up with) I should get over 3oz dry from 2qts of grain! My heaviest was 54.58g but they averaged around 30-40g with very few that didn't get huge. All my weights are with trimmed and cleaned mushrooms, not a half ounce of sub stuck to the bottom of each shroom like I see some people post and claim they get a huge harvest. I just love the way they look and how fast they are for Macs. It got my hopes high that they aren't blueing much since the strongest trip I've had on shrooms was from ones that didn't blue much. I really wanted to try these fresh but time isn't allowing it so I'll have to settle for dry.

Dammmmmmn those look crazy good. Would be good with a lil side of bbq sauce. That’s how I like it. I wanna hear all about it when you do dive in
:crazy2:

Ive got a couple Melmak jars going, maybe I’ll get some 118 to grain this weekend… join in on the fun.

Mac 95 dried to 77g. So a little less then I thought but still a really good producer in my book. 2.75oz is still awesome for the first flush. I'm hoping I get a second.

That close up of the snape plate looks like it’s got bacteria spots around the edges, could just be the light/bubbles/nute yeast but I’d check it out.

I have two tubs of the white water going. I’ve been fanning and misting one and completely neglecting the other. Will post results on both when the time comes.
