If it's actual manure then it should work. I have never tried it. Why wont the farmers give you manure? Most of the places in my area try to give it away cause they have so much of it...

So what you are saying is that the farmers in your area have two problems.
1) They are full of shit 2) No one will take shit from them.
Sounds normal to me. :>

Just got a bag less than 2 dollars. I always thought cow manure was cow manure.
Does the manure need to be dryied out before doing the tek. Maybe so water content is ok Think I will try it like this.

The Wal-mart brand is a organic compost derived from manure compost piles SOme of the brands contain fungicides,Black Cow is one I think I would at least sterilize/pasteurise it first.

I bought composted cow manure only once but never again....it was like dirt and the mycelium could not get through it....even with straw the compost slowed everything to a crawl...my suggestion....find someone who has some horses....most ppl will give it to you no questions asked....horse manure has the perfect texture that you don't need to have any straw...mycelium glides through it like butta

I agree ,your best bet is to find a farmer and ask them if you can get some for your garden-cow shit is a great fertiliser for tomatoes!!!!!

I used a mixture of Zoodoo and store-bought. Pasteurized in oven. mixed in a quart of colonized WBS to one bin, and a quart of colonized brf cakes to another. I didn't have any air circulation inside the bins (but it should colonize without fresh air, right?). Anyhow, the mycelium never started growing again. The exposed pieces of BRF and WBS soon turned to mold.

not tru....as I said composted manure can be way to compact for the mycelium to get through it
sun dried horse shit is the best for cubes I believe...its texture is better than cow so you don't need to add any straw...the mycelium eats through it fast and thorough

I agree and I don't know why. Throw a pile of horse shit next to a pile of cow shit in a field and guess which one they will almost always fruit on first.
