Could Psilocybin Mushrooms cure Benzodiazepine addiction?

Hi all!
I'm tapering off Klonopin for 3 years now, and the withdrawals are so hard that I often think of actually killing myself -- the only thing that stops me is the thought that if the suicide fails I'll end up in a hospital and things would get even worse.
SO, I was wondering if Psilocybin could cure drug addiction. I've heard stories of people getting off Fast from various drug addictions by using mushrooms. I think Terence Mckenna mentioned it somewhere, not sure though. I'm thinking of buying some shrooms and giving it a try. Or stuff like LSD is better with these things?
Any thoughts on this please?
Thanks!

There is no cure for an addiction like that sorry to say. Continue tapering.

Possibly… I’m sorry to hear about your depression. Ashwaganda root I’ve heard amazing things about. I just ordered mine from forestsuperfoods here in Melbourne. A few reviews say it has gotten them off pharmaceutical’s.
Fantastic funghi also has said great for ptsd with psilocybin. That’s on Netflix and Paul Stamets vouches to use it for healing past traumas. You could always try.
Ashwaganda seems promising too I hope this helps

I also wanted to bring up homeopathy. Aurum metallic im is for suicidal tendencies. Leiah golden could help if you look her up. Great homeopath.
Also lions mane, Turkey tail, reishi I’ve been taking and it’s helped a lot with my anxiety along with the ashwaganda root. I was also microdosing with psilocybin. I felt more alive and everything felt more beautiful I wish you the best

Ibogaine has the potential to treat this, but it should be facilitated by a reputable treatment centre. Research carefully and proceed with caution if you do follow this route.

Thanks! I have Ashwagandha, living in Srilanka, though I did not experience a significant help from it during tapering. The only thing that helped was MJ or CBD oil, but constant use of it made my body to "dry up" and I get headaches (especially in the hot climate here). I don't have depression that much, it's the physical withdrawal symptoms that I can't handle.
Thanks again

Thanks for the info!
btw. My suicidal thoughts are not actually coming from a mental illness, it's the constant physical torture that wanna make me leave this body.
Anyways, thanks for the helping hand

Yes I vaguely recall something along the line of Ibogaine in a Mckenna lecture. I'll look into that. Thanks!!

OP, it is very important to note that even if you cure your addiction, you still need to taper carefully. Helping your addiction does not get rid of your dependence, your body's physical adaption to the drug.
I am reminding you to please continue to adhere carefully to tapering protocols, which are very important for benzos.

This is the most important information. Coming from someone who has had a grand mal seizure coming off of benzos. 12+ minutes and I feel lucky to be alive.
I knew better, too.

I disagree with the posters saying it won't help.
Psychedelics are what made me quit drugs, and there is evidence that they're useful in treating addiction, so I'd say yes. In my case, it was LSD, but psychedelics in general show a lot of promise as an addiction treatment.
Will it help with benzo withdrawal? Hard to say, but what have you got to lose?
The only thing you should be careful about is the fact that psychedelics can cause seizures in people vulnerable to them, and withdrawal from benzos can also cause seizures, so there is a legitimate risk of seizures, and seizures can in and of themselves be life threatening. So it might not be totally without risk.
But are psychedelics useful in treating addiction? Yes. They're the reason I quit. They won't help you quit any faster or taper any faster, but they can help you quit.
