As the Official Ambassador for this subforum, lemme tell you the majority of us are aware of the history of US government crackdowns on speech, in the media or elsewhere, assuming that’s the “slippery slope” you’re alluding to.
Don Lemon getting canned for being a dumbass is not HUAC 2.0

Just because it's a private business doing it and not the government doesn't make it any less slippery. We can agree to disagree.

Yeah! Pretty soon we won't be able to say any offensive shit we want to anyone we want without any consequences whatsoever! Is that the kind of world we want to live in?
Seriously though, you could have always been fired for saying stupid shit on company time. Or punched in the mouth, for that matter. Nothing has changed.

Also, youngsters? This forum is geriatric as fuck, bro.

Don Lemon has the IQ of an actual Lemon. A lemon however is zesty and refreshing when squeezed into lemodade, which Don Lemon unfortunatley is not.

No we can’t, because private business and the government have historically had a relationship with one another.
I’m not disagreeing with you premise, I’m disagreeing that Don Lemon’s firing is an example of that premise.
Assange being persecuted is a good example, because he did a media thing the government didn’t like, and then governments AND corporations went after him.
Phil Donahue was fired by MSNBC for being against the Iraq War.
Marc Lamont Hill was fired by CNN for being critical of Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.
These are good examples. Don Lemon putting his foot in his mouth is not.

What assange did was clearly illegal which is why the government "didn't like it"

And then all the major banks refused to process donations to Wikileaks.
Sounds like a good example to me.

Right because of the criminal liability of aiding and facilitating an organization in illegal activities.

Weird how they didn’t stop doing the criminal activity that blew up the global economy.
Wonder why they didn’t piss themselves over liability for those crimes. Almost like they knew the state would act on one and not the other.
Kinda like firing Donahue or Hill means MSNBC and CNN knew they’d be losing access if they continued to let those two broadcast rhetoric that’s harmful to the goals of the US government.
Again, this is a real, historical phenomenon. What some people are missing is that firing Lemon has nothing to do with the deep state. I doubt Tucker’s firing has anything to do with it either.

most of what assange has published has been brought to him because he does this kind of journalism. when he made wikileaks there were atleast a dozen webpages which did exactly what wikileaks did, but you couldnt tell what was legit infos and what was just bullshit. so what assange did was put together a system for people to share info, so long as they could prove the authenticity of the info. the goal is to take down all governments equally...none specifically.
turns out doing something like that will paint a target on your back.
assange on a personal level, is a complete asshat. worthy of all of your ire. however, as a journalist, he is a hero.

assange hung out with hackers since he was a teen, he was never very good at it. but he was in l0pht chatrooms, and cult dead cow chatrooms, and yahoo chatrooms.... where alot of very skilled hackers hung out.
i promise you that assange on his own isnt much of a hacker at all.
getting caught doesnt make you a good hacker... no one respects kevin mitnick either. lol.
the charge for him hacking is silly and if you read the article YOU posted all it says is that he agreed to break a password.... didnt say he did it ... but brute force is easy once you have the access.
manning however didnt need a password, so the charge seems a bit stretched. i think they are reaching as manning had the authority to see all the infos and was mainly just feeding it to assange to publish.
cracking passwords is low level drivel. and most of the government stuff was so far behind the times back then it would have been VERY simple (no such thing as two factor, it rarely even got reported when you entered the wrong password).
assange just took documents that manning had as part of thier job and published them to the internet... every other charge is the US attempting to put up a charge the UK is willing to extradite over.
just trust assange is no hacker.

Whether you know it or not, you are the face of the shroomery, which is a trillion dollar media corporation.
