Steinernema Feltiae Nematode Against Fungus Gnats
    #28292844 - 04/24/23 11:24 AM (8 months, 30 days ago)

In failed pot grow.

We're allowed 6 plants, legally. 6 seeds were planted in disinfected 24oz yogurt cups and misted without bottom drainage.

Native soil and bark chips were placed in a stainless steel pot. Tap water was brought to a rolling boil, and the soil mixture was allowed to steam, in open air, for several hours.

When it was warm to the touch, these 'tea bags' of nematodes were placed in the bottom of each yogurt container, and the soil placed on top, and a pot seed on top, where I could monitor it.

A heat mat was placed inside of a cleaned, recycled refrigerator crisper drawer, with the glass shelf on top.

It began to smell musty, and pinning began on low air pressure. Mushrooms fruiting has been a reliable indicator of weather, here.

So, conditions accidentally recreated the growing tub tek, and I lost some expensive pot seeds.

All of these cheap supplies came from the Amazon thrift store, and the nematodes might be used to protect mushrooms, if they aren't dangerous to people.

Six seeds were removed with long tweezers, in hopes that they will sprout in jars used for microgreens, but I  think they were ruined by hyphae.

On top, were some familiar, local Coprinus, which seems to be the usual cause of seeds dampening-off, here.

On bottom, coming from the 'tea bags' of nematodes are something meatier and hairy looking, which I can not immediately ID.

~Thanks for reading.
