- 1968: Canned Heat releases the single for "On The Road Again"
Quote:
"On the Road Again," a song recorded by the American blues rock group Canned Heat, was released as a single in April 1968, and appeared on their 1968 album Boogie with Canned Heat as well as the 1969 compilation The Canned Heat Cookbook. It reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart and number sixteen on the Billboard Hot 100.
"On the Road Again" was adapted by Alan Wilson from a song of the same name recorded in 1953 by Floyd Jones (July 21, 1917 - December 19, 1989), a Chicago blues musician. Jones' song was itself an adaptation of "Big Road Blues," recorded in 1928 by Delta blues musician Tommy Johnson.
With his knowledge of Eastern music, Wilson used a tambura drone to give the song a hypnotic effect and a psychedelic edge. The song features Wilson as the lead singer and harmonica player. The B-side of the single was entitled "Boogie Music". A black and white live performance is used in place of a video.
The song appears in the films Alice in the Cities (1973) Hideous Kinky (1998) "Frequency" (2000) Cold Creek Manor (2003) and The Bucket List (2007).
B-side "Boogie Music" Released April 24, 1968 (1968-04-24) Format 7" 45 rpm record Recorded Liberty Studios, Los Angeles September 6, 1967 Genre Blues rock Length 3:28 (single version) 5:01 (album version) Label Liberty (Cat. no. 56038) Writer(s) Floyd Jones, Alan Wilson Producer Cal Carter

- 1972: John Lennon releases the single for "Woman Is The Nigger Of The World"
Quote:
Woman Is the Nigger of the World is a song written by John Lennon and recorded by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band, released as a single on Apple Records in the US (Apple 1848), New Zealand (NZP.3441) and Japan (EAR-10082) in 1972. It peaked at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is the lowest charting single released in Lennon's lifetime both solo and with The Beatles.[citation needed] It appeared later that year on the album Some Time in New York City.
Meaning
The phrase was originally coined by Yoko Ono during a magazine interview in 1969. Lennon later said during his Live in New York City album that it took him until 1970 to "dig it." He was hoping to show how women had been and still were being treated. The song describes women's subservience to men across all cultures. It was banned from radio airplay because of the word 'nigger', though it was played on WHRW-FM. Many prominent black people, including comedian Dick Gregory, spoke out in defense of the song. Another supporter, Congressman Ron Dellums, stated, "If you define 'nigger' as someone whose lifestyle is defined by others, whose opportunities are defined by others, whose role in society is defined by others, the good news is that you don't have to be black to be a nigger in this society. Most of the people in America are niggers."
In a 1972 interview on the Dick Cavett Show, John Lennon stated that Irish revolutionary James Connolly was an inspiration for the song. Lennon quoted Connolly's 'the female is the slave of the slave' in explaining the pro-feminist inspiration behind the song.
Reissues and live performance
John Lennon performed the song with the band Elephant's Memory and with Yoko Ono on the Dick Cavett Show in May 1972. Because of the controversial title, ABC asked Dick Cavett to apologize to the audience in advance for the song's content, otherwise the performance would not have been shown.
A different edit of the song was included on the 1975 compilation album Shaved Fish (with one verse removed), but left off subsequent compilations The John Lennon Collection and Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon. It was included on Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon and the Gimme Some Truth box set.
B-side "Sisters O Sisters" (Yoko Ono) Released April 24, 1972 (US) 26 May, 1972 (Japan) Format 7" vinyl Recorded November 1971-March 1972 Genre Rock Length 5:16 Label Apple Writer(s) John Lennon Producer Phil Spector, John Lennon and Yoko Ono

- 1976: Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live offers The Beatles $3,000 to reunite
Quote:
24 April 1976 – During a broadcast of Saturday Night Live, producer Lorne Michaels offered the Beatles $3,000 to reunite on the show. Lennon and McCartney were watching the live broadcast at Lennon's apartment at the Dakota in New York, which was within walking distance of the NBC studio where the show was being broadcast. The former bandmates briefly entertained the idea of going to the studio and surprising Michaels by accepting his offer, but decided not to.

Canned Heat's On the Road Again is mostly known because it was on Woodstock Album.

45th anniversary of Lorne Michaels offering The Beatles $3,000 to reunite, which Lennon and McCartney considered doing as a goof. It's extra funny when you know that a promoter had offered the band $50 MILLION to reunite just two years earlier, which is equivalent to $268 million now! Lorne Michaels' offer is equivalent to $13,000 now, in case you wanted to know.
