Yeah it should work just fine just be sure to allow it time to fully evaporate before you put anything in. 70% isopropyl is better to use than 90%. It can more easily penetrate the cell walls of contams when it is at this %.

A 10% bleach solution is also effective. You can spray things down inside, then seal it up for a bit. The fumes will impregnate all the little nooks and crannies you cant wipe down. Using bleach is the most effective way to sterilize without the residue left behind by lysol. Alcohol evaporates very quickly as also has its advantages, but I am not so sure the alcohol fumes will have the same effect as the bleach. I think the most effective way would be to use bleach between each use, and alcohol to clean anything new you place inside...

I clean many things like this, the bleach bombing technique...

Hey everyone. I will soon be constructing a glovebox and I'm wondering now...some say Lysol, other Iso. alcohol for the inside.
I thought (naively, I guess) that the higher the alcohol percentage the better for sterilizing. Yet, 70% allows better penetration into the nasties' cells? So Iso 70% is okay?
And another thing, since we're on this topic--can an overabundance of lysol hurt the spore solution from a syringe, the casing materials, the substrate, the mycelium? I mean, say I have a glovebox and inside it I have just crumbled colonized substrate over a layer of vermiculite, then I dust this crumbled substrate with lysol. What would happen? I see lots of "use tons of lysol" but I assume there's an upward bound here.
Thank you very much for any help!

Yes, higher concentrations are less effective. 70% is fine.

Don't get any lysol on the spores, or in the solution. It will kill them. Don't spray anything like your casing mix or substrate with lysol. High concentrations will kill mycelium, lower will cause mutations.

Lysol is overpriced residue...

Could you explain why a higher concentration is less effective?  Sounds interesting.... :dancing:  :dancing:

Thanks, I love that movie. The colors are amazing, the animation is amazing, and there are multiple lessons for children and parents. Pixar did a great job, and is my new favorite Disney movie. I don't have kids, but when I do I am sure they will enjoy that movie much more than I did...

Squirt is cute, I even have a little stuffed animal Squirt. Although in the movie his name is Offspring, the stuffed version says Squirt on the tag...
It's hard to get a shot of that little guy, he is zooming all over the screen, even frame by frame he is blurry... I think I will take a shot of my stuffed version for my avatar...

Anyway, I am sorry for the off topic.

Use bleach....
