Only had one normal looking mushroom the first flush so far too, making progress on stabilizing the variety.

The overlay

Does the overlay have enough alkaloid content to be worth consuming? I'm assuming the answer is yes given that you've dehydrated it

I have a culture I've been working with, no overlay and consistent canopies. I can send out wedges to anybody who wants to relieve the headache of overlay

I haven’t tried it myself but we’ve had quite a few reports that it’s about normal cube strength.
I’m loving this big ones pheno, so different from normal nat.

No

My goodness those are some fat nats! I took a clone of a choker a week ago, hoping to get those results. You have given me hope

Hey guys, I received a P. Nat. LC syringe as a gift. I have a few questions about them.
1. How potent are they compared to cubes? 2. Do they grow under the exact same conditions? 3. Anything in particular I should know if I go to grow these out?

1. From average cube potency to 2× the potency 2. Exactly like cubes with extra FAE if possible, but not necessary 3. The trip is different

I have not grown a batch of Nats for quite some time but I’m still working with a culture I isolated fairly early on that mostly is well behaved:

But the last image has just a bit of blue freaky overlay to prove it’s a NAT culture 🤣

I don't know. I filled a half gallon jar and powdered it all. Filling a new jar, but have only been using the powder for lemon TEK. Next weekend I can find out!
Just put some in the dehydrator! Newer tub that's my best flush so far.

Well, my first tub of Natalensis (Yoshi's standard Nats) ended up only developing side pins; nothing grew up through the dense overlay layer. The mushrooms that did develop all look a bit stressed to me; not sure what could be the issue since there's plenty of FAE in the tent; but it could also be bacterial and I just don't know it. The fruit bodies smell healthy/normal as they're drying in the dehydrator, but either way, I at least ended up with three trays' worth of mushrooms. I only took the healthiest looking cap and have it printing now (this strain is a heavy spore dumper - the substrate is covered in spores even though they only grew up from the sides). My Natal Super Strength Natalensis (also from Yoshi) is doing much better in the tent. The NSS is showing pins today so in a few more days those should be much happier fruit bodies.
Here's what I was able to get:

My tubs spaghettis grew first, and the later growers grew straight. Weird.

My first bioassay of this species was when i had test run some brf pf tek cakes and they had to sit invitro a bit longer than they should have due to a vacation... upon return i pulled them out of the jars and they had a thick skin tissue (more conensed version of the "overlay") which immediately oxidized a navy blue... i peeled a couple of em and tossed the skin in my dehydrator those cakes produced zero fruits, the ones i left it on puffed up like rotten marshmallows and produced a few fruit here and there for 3 months strait! Anyways, my wife and i are a bit adventurous and decided to ingest .5g each of the dried skin not expecting much but both pleasantly surprised by a nice mild and uplifting trip. I have never taken any steps to attempt to reduce any "overlay" and believe those that produce it tend to have less fruit but keep fruiting longer than those which have not produced the clouds... ive seen it on both lineage NSS and the generic natalensis.
