The things Shitty parents say * 3
    #28275556 - 04/13/23 08:08 AM (9 months, 11 days ago)

My oldest shares alot with me these days and drugs and pot came up.

And she told me her mom says she wants to quit smoking pot. But it's hard cuz she uses it to escape her and the rest of the kids.

My kids are pretty sheltered and innocent and I think it was pretty Shitty of her to say.

I'm really angry at alot of things and people these days.

My kids are the only thing bringing me joy these days it seems.

Sorry to hear that, that is indeed shitty to say to your kids.  Even if you feel that way, they don't need to know or hear that from their mother.  Glad at least your kids can bring you joy :mushroom2:

Ya she says lots of aweful things to them.
My oldest usually boxes in her room as much as she can at her moms cuz she is afraid to have an interaction.

She has mentioned a number of times that she thinks the kids would be better off without her. And she would be better off dead or going away.

It's getting harder and harder to tell her the kids need her in there life.

That would cause way more damage than it would prevent.
She isn't Shitty in everyway.
She is just really good at ruining relationships

I still remember my dad saying he wants to runaway when shit was really hitting the fan in my family

Unsure of what the solution to her saying that is

I can relate somewhat and I agree that's a shitty thing to say.

I caught my wife saying "suck it up sunshine" to my daughter when she cried. She's five.

What I do is to counter balance the behavior of my wife, by doing strengthening the bond to my kids in every possible way.
It sounds like there's a strong bond between you and your kids. That in my opinion is what counts and is the only thing you can really have an influence on.

"Suck it up" is your idea of a bad thing to say? I don't care if the kid is five. You are over sensitive, and as far as OP goes I'm sure there's tons of shit I'd find reprehensible about his parenting. Is it a good thing to say? No. But this thread seems like a circle jerk for soft parents who want to raise really weak and clueless children.

Its a different world than when most of us were kids.

I'm just trying to provide the most caring home i can.

For a long time we were both being Shitty parents in different ways. Her alcoholism and me being on autopilot.

Ya my kids are soft emotionally. Why should a  child be hard to the world. They are still innocent and I will let that last as long as I can.

There are alot of damaged people on these forums is really wrong to want to break that cycle?

Suck it up depends on context. What we say and how we say it or when we say has a large impact. Especially in kids.
My son has a nearly  photographic memory. I know if I say something that hurts him he will remember it forever:(

I know I'm not a perfect parent and I'm sure there is lots of things people could pick apart.

I'm glad we don't live in the city. We are all grateful for that in this house.

Don't worry about that guy. He was probably raised by parents who said shitty things to him lol.

No he should worry. If you don't like what I had to say then maybe there's a problem there.:cookiemonster:

I offered impartiality, and you're being soft again.

Women deserve all the respect, support, and love that they need, especially pregnant women or women with children.

When a woman is physically active; exercising, having to hurry and do things quickly, any odd behavior or things they say should be completely tolerated because they are not used to it.

They're not used to there being less activity in their brain because physical movement and exercise demands far more attention from the brain, therefore it cannot think as well as when relaxed.

It would obviously make sense to tolerate something they said, rather than hold them to it, as if they came up with the thought during a time of relaxation and deep thinking, they did not.

Both children and adults sometimes need comforting.

When a boy is hurt, he is often encouraged to repress the experience and told to "shake it off, take it like a man, boys don't cry, man up, walk it off"
