That's because she's also ancient and doesn't want to admit that people that old shouldn't be in politics. So her mind goes to its because she's a woman

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/18/us/politics/feinstein-illness-shingles-senate.html
Turns out Dem operatives deliberately withheld information that Dianne Feinstein’s brain is melting faster than previously disclosed.
Who would have guessed?!
Maybe the Pelosi daughter on her staff can secure her endorsement for her successor as Adam Schiff (who Nancy wants) and they can send Dianne to live out her days on the farm.

Withheld evidence? What does that even mean? Was there a trial?

So what does withhold information mean? I certainly don’t think someone’s aide has an obligation to tell anyone anything about someone’s health. I certainly would fire someone on the spot if they did that kind of betrayal of trust.

Plus, 99% of the problem is that the GOP refuses to replace her on committees if she retires, so a demented occasional vote is better than no vote.

If she retires they can replace her. That can’t as long as she’s still a senator

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the committee chairs, who are now GOPers, said they just wouldn't. Like when they stole the SCOTUS seat and gave us the current right wing tragedy.

Is Governor Newsome's right to replace the Senator set in stone? It sounds like a private squabble and most Democrats could live with either choice. Besides that would Lee vs Schiff have different prospects for important committee assignments?
The reason why I ask is because I thought Obama had an absolute right to get his SCOTUS nominee to a confirmation vote. Nope, and a few years later no more women's reproductive rights at the federal level. Was the first in the constitution and the second not? Just asking.

The US Senate cannot revoke the right of the Governor of California’s constitutional right to appoint a replacement senator.
Would Lee and Schiff have different prospects? Maybe. Schiff is a company man and Lee, despite her flaws, doesn’t play ball 100% of the time, and wasn’t groomed as part of the Pelosi machine.
Whether they’d govern differently in the Senate is probably secondary to the fact that Schiff is Pelosi’s guy and Lee is not. Therefore let’s keep up this weekend at Bernie’s routine and continue fucking up the Dems’ slight Senate majority in order for Nancy Pelosi (also on death’s doorstep) to put her friend into a position of power and negate Newsom’s pledge to appoint a black woman in the interim.

It's not just about replacing the senator in the Senate, it's about replacing the senator on Senate committees.

Yes the governor replaces any open senate seat until the next scheduled election, unlike the house where they have a special election. If Feinstein resigned, newsome would appoint her replacement, then there would be an election in 2024 to fill out her term and then another election in 2026 for the normal six year term

And if Feinstein resigned today, Newsom would appoint Lee, and it would be pretty difficult for Dem leadership to explain to voters why they should replace Lee with a white man (that the GOP already despises).

I mean, that's probably also a factor.
And once again, the left has trouble distinguishing between a villain and a flawed hero.

That's the answer I was looking for. A rule in the constitution.
But I'm still confused about McConnel blocking Obama's SCOTUS pick, because I thought that was in the constitution too, Maybe I'm wrong. To me the Democrats seem to sometimes be pussies, and in certain circumstances should be evil bastards like the GOP. This should have been fought tooth and nail.
Maybe W Bush beat Gore, but since it was questionable, they should have contested the issues, within whatever legal recourse might have been available. Not like Trump election denial, but don't just roll over and surrender either. It probably wouldn't have changed anything, but it seemed to set the precedent for Republican aggressiveness and Dem passiveness.
The Democrats don't have that much to approve of, until compared to the other side. But since they are better at least on some major issues, I would like to see them play to win instead of just being more civil in their behavior. In the past there were many civil Republicans too, even some on the right, but that's over. It's a war and the rules have changed, and the Democrats need to win. But most of them will accept a loss too easily. I don't even know if I myself am advocating cheating, but certainly the other side is comfortable with it, particularly rigging state governments to cheat. They have a lot of local government advantages, and are exploiting them to the max.
People like FDR and Richard J Daily were sometimes motherfuckers. It's a lost art in the Democratic Party but flourishing in the GOP. Nancy Pelosi has some of that, which is why she lasted this long, but IMO women in this country still get judged more harshly.
Sorry for being so longwinded. It's my birthday weekend and my friends have been generous.
