Now do I eat it or ship it home? Might do both

Cool souvenir, even though not very typical for Germany .

I once planned to import some Bridgesii internationally from another country to Germany and left it after doing some research.
I'd check out if you need a phytosanitary certificate for your country and where you can obtain one. I doubt whether you can just send it (if you want to do it the "proper way") and if you do it might get intercepted by customs.

It's illegal in my country. Costumes will confiscate it with or without papers. last one that was mailed, the costumes declaration said wooden carvings

I have a friend who sends me extremely well packaged echinopsis cactus with a declared  value of $10. The plants are legal (as echinopsis cactus) to import, the price declares it as a low value item, which doubles in providing a price (too low to be of interest) but a price indicating it's been a purchased item, none of my boxes have ever been checked, because who is going to want to go through that much tape just to see if a $10 cactus is interesting

No it's taped to the outside as a customs declaration

I noticed when I mailed clothes with Deutsch post DHL, they had me declare it's contents and sticker noted it on the box. I would of course have to lie if I use this service

You don't have to lie, just not give all the information. Yes it's a live plant, no you don't need to know what kind specifically.

"Plants must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from the country of origin showing that the plants meet entry requirements for the United States."

I have no certification and it's illegal. I have to lie. I'm thinking declare like before, wooden carvings

It's looking more and more likely I will need to eat these or diss them rather than mailing them home
