This is actually huge news. Finland has one of the best armies in Europe, and probably the best intelligence operation in Russia. They've also got one of the longest land borders with Russia. Strategically, this is probably one of the biggest moves since the cold war.
Personally though, I'm excited for an entirely different reason. In high school, we had an exchange student from Finland, and she was just about one of the nicest and best people I've ever met. I remember how brutally honest she was about all the negative parts of her country. Her honesty just left me with a profoundly positive opinion of both her and Finland. It takes a really great country to be brutally honest about its own faults, that honesty just spoke volumes to me about culture and freedom in Finland. I've always been curious to visit it ever since then.
Anyway, discuss.

It'll be seen/spun as provocation, but it's probably for the best.

You're excited?
Your post demonstrates a certain level of naiveté as well as a lack of understanding in regards to the present geopolitical situation that the world is facing.
First of all, Finland joining NATO was totally unnecessary and does far more damage to the national security of Finland than it does to Russia. Make no mistake, neutrality was the best guarantor of peace for the Finns. Now some stupid bitch who isn't even in power anymore has compromised the safety and security of her peoples for decades to come. If I were a Finn, I would consider her to be a traitor. For the Finnish government, under her leadership has betrayed the wisdom of their own ancestors, people whom survived WW2, and whom had the wisdom and foresight to commit to neutrality and thus safeguard future generations for all time.
Now all of that has been undone and it is 100% guaranteed that in the event that NATO ends up at war with Russia, which is looking more and more likely by the way, Finland will find out first hand what it's like to be targeted with nuclear weapons, and they will find out what it's like to have their people undergo mass nuclear extermination. Their ancestors, if they were alive today would be fucking ashamed of the idiots who run Finland today.
The crazy thing about it is that in the event of a NATO-Russia war the Finns won't be able to do much, if anything, before they are nuked. The only strategic advantage they provide for NATO in the event of war is that the Russians will have to expend some resources on nuking Finland and thus buy the rest of the NATO alliance a few extra minutes of time before they are nuked as well. They are literally nothing more than sacrificial pawns. That is what they signed up to be!
I cannot imagine the fucking delusional stupidity and idiocy that is at work in Finland. They are blinded by hubris and Russophobia.
Of course, so is the rest of Europe - whom have been holding onto feelings of irrational and extreme Russophobia for many generations, going back hundreds of years.. and that is why on 2 separate occasions in History, led by Napoleon and Hitler, Europe attempted to conquer and annihilate Russia. Both times failed. Now it would appear they are going to try a third time - the writing is on the wall. This time it will be no different, they will fail - except now the entire planet will suffer the consequences of European arrogance & stupidity. They truly are like lemmings driving themselves off a cliff.
If and when WW3 breaks out, I for one will not feel one iota of compassion for the Finns when they get nuked. Because that is what they signed up for. That is what they wanted. I will feel some compassion for those citizens whom did not want their country to join NATO, but they did not have a say in the matter.
Of course I hope WW3 will not happen, but as of today it isn't looking good. There are zero rational leaders here in the West and almost every government out there is totally 100% corrupt and doing the exact opposite of what the people desire, instead unquestioningly following the orders of a handful of unelected billionaire elites.
I hate to say it but things really aren't looking good. Unless something changes dramatically, we're fucked. I hope you guys are stocking up on iodine pills, doing food prep and digging underground shelters because it is looking more and likely that you will need them at some point..

you wont feel anything because you will also be dead.

finland fought the soviets and later the nazis in ww2. some neutrality. your grasp of history is loose as is your grasp on reality.
infact the fins slaughtered the soviets during the winter war before hitler invaded. this is common knowledge. pick up a book and take off the tin foil.

Some people say that putting nuclear missiles that close to St Petersburg is actually a negative because they’re much easier to shoot down on such a short trajectory.
