Got an exact copy of the donor fruit, just much smaller.

The original

Cool read. I'm not sure they are superior visually than cubes, like they say in the article, but I haven't done major doses of nats either. I'll have to try a high dose when I have more.

What is everyone using for rye:coir ratio on nats? Can I just do 1:6 shoeboxes like my cubes?

Same. I've only gone up to a 2 gram dose for my highest and I have had only very mild visuals.

Yeah start with whatever you do for cubes. I do em 1:4, others 1:2 etc. Shouldn’t matter too much

My 22 plates of JW123 nats are coming along nicely. 2 out of The 22 plates transferred from the 34 spore germ plates (9%) have contamination. That’s way worse than in my SAB, so clearly my flow hood technique needs work. I’m building an 80/20 aluminum extrusion and acrylic hood to help out. I do love the freedom the FFU gives me, but I hate going past one transfer, so that’s annoying.

Found this nice looking pin on one of my older nat plates yesterday. I’ll drop this plate straight into some bottles once it grows out.

Also the bottles I’ve had in fruiting conditions for a few days seem to be doing really well. I cased these with untreated soil from my no-till just for fun. I’m sorta curious about how the microbes in the soil play with the mushrooms since my endgame is to grow these outside in compost.

These plate pins keep giving me false hope for an albino, but the culture throws green worms.

Sliced in half, it's just white with green bruising that shows up in seconds.

Worst part about overlay is it shrinks the sub so much I’ve noticed it’s hard to rehydrate

Try setting that in direct sunlight for 10-15 minutes a day and let us know if it signals for it to stop overlaying and actually fruit. It was discovered in grass, the sun usually gets through grass, perhaps it's expecting to grow high enough to get some sun

Why would that have any value what so ever? It's genetic, many of us grow overlay free Nats.

I'm noticing that the nat mycelium is sucking my sub dryer than normal...
IS this a thing others have noticed???
I may have to give them a light spritz with the squirty bottle thing.

Because it could be a combination of both genetic and environmental factors.
If an overweight man with a family history of heart disease went to his annual checkup, the doctor would tell him to lose weight, because even though the man is genetically at higher risk for heart disease, losing weight would still help. Same thing here.
(Not 100% sure if what winzlo7 said is accurate, just bringing up a point.)
