I haven't done it yet but am looking for tips. {I just posted about this in political forum).

There is going to be real money in AI if invested in the right companies. Potentially more unethical than nuclear weapons and harder to control.

Philip Morris in the past. Well Altria Group before they spun off Philip Morris. I think they owned Kraft and Mondelez for a while. Altria Group was a big company.

Right now I got a bunch of General Dynamics and Northrum Grumman. They make the drones with bombs.

I got a good chunk in Suncor, the Canadian tar sands.

I also own a bunch of Corby Spirit and Wine. They distribute some terrible whiskys and Absolut vodka. They only thing worth a shit they sell is Kahlua and Triple Sec.

I might have owned Correctional Corporation of America at some point too. Or maybe I went short on them right before an election. I can't remember how I traded it.

Discovered my investment bundle had 4gen Revolution index included.

I quickly placed a stop to that.

Another one was a Dividend index that had rebalanced and placed a large tobacco company at first place.
Quickly sold (did make some money before selling so wasn't bad)

Lastly an index that had shell stocks and just didn't know:sad:

Oil has been on a straight line up from 70 in July to the top of the range at 90 on WTI. I know you fellas love Brent.

Artificially high at a PE of 8 is a bit aggressive. Offshore wind auctions are going un-bid on due to uneconomical conditions with high interest rates, material costs. Oil is still going to keep booming and bust. Inflation adjusted crude is still pretty cheap.

High energy inflation would be the chef's kiss after the central banks have aggressively hiked over the past few years.

Or alternatively. High energy prices for places outside of Europe would be a way to get a recession meaningfully started and finally break the price spirals we've seen after a period of higher prices.

Well I'll be damned, it's GG :whoa:!  Nice to see you swing by! :yesnod:

Ahab is right, oil has been hot.  For those who like to trade around positions, I would however advocate peeling a bit off of any oil related positions that have been on fire of late.  Just skim a little profit off the table to feel good about, maybe you can put them back in play later if there's a pull back, or rotate into a different sector to rebalance a bit, since if you have been heavy on oil, you're now even more overweight due to the solid price appreciation the sector has been benefitting from.  Note that I have nothing against a concentrated portfolio; if you're trying to outperform the market, you necessarily need to concentrate into strength to do so.  But I also firmly believe in taking incremental profits as they present themselves.

As for least ethical assets, it's a bit difficult to quantify it.  I won't buy an IPO, secondary offering or private placement on a company I'm not comfortable with... but with regard to publicly traded tickers, I just follow price.  What the company actually does is generally irrelevant, and for short term trades, not necessarily something I even look into.

If pressed, I suppose the physical precious metals I hold may be the least ethical asset I own, as our earth is often ravaged in order to retrieve and isolate them, and there have obviously been countless human rights abuses throughout history due to the efforts to obtain them.

is it unethical to put option Shell tanking?

i'm really uncomfortable with leveraging gold lowering in price, its against my goldbug genes to go against gold.

Short selling Shell is the opposite of unethical. Shell is one of those companies, that people don't realize just how awful they are. They fly under the radar, as they're not as well known as say Exxon, Chevron or BP. Although shorting Valero would be the ultimate as far as anti-unethical goes.

Wars. Many are invested in wars against our free will to a lesser or greater extent.

As can be seen here though, some willingly support companies that make equipment to kill people - probably often times innocent women and children - and they seem to have no issue sleeping at night.

Others, such as many worker bees get funds taken against their will and that is invested into things like nooks and other weapons without their knowledge.

The corporate world has far too much influence in politics, in fact there does not really seem to be a dividing line anymore. People have become only useful if the "system" can profit off them. Cogs in the corporate machine. Saddest thing is, we support that very system.

Valero is crack spreads. Tons of news lately about how the big auto companies are scaling back EVs due to low demand, Tesla isn't meeting numbers.

Even antidotically, we have a big EV program at the company here and lots of the admin staff are getting the EVs first and are complaining that they can't drive 300kms / 200 miles in winter in an older telsa. It doesn't meet the needs of an average driver. Newer cars, newer batteries keep getting better, but it's gunna be on the next economic cycle, 2-3 years from now.

Huge news on Siemens's energy asking for government bailouts in my industry. They are basically fucked. The wind turbine division is pulling down everything else including oil and gas. Might not go to zero, but think of it like how GM did in 2010. Equity might be fully wiped. They are asking for 15B Euros or Dollars, either or, it's a lot.

Wind turbines might be carbon ethical, but not really if it's the company culture that are putting out products are are failing within the first 2 years and the company is headed for bankrupcty.

I've always followed the Enron concept where I don't put my personal money in the industry I work in because diversification and all that. If you put all your eggs in the company and you have bad intel, you lose your job, lose your retirement fund. I'd rather have 90% in index funds, and play in TKO and WWE and get my salary from renewables.
