Not sure if this has been discussed already but Alistair Mctaggart has been working on this for a couple of years. I don't have as deep an understanding of this as a lot of you probably will but here's his latest blog post

are they saying that their data suggests that those three species are the same species?

As far as I can tell, that is what 'conspecific' means
Tho I think mushroom genetics are pretty wild so

Or will subaruginosa be split into more species? I like to play with all of them, and they’re all the same, but a little different.

Or, would the holo type be considered the “Ps. cyanescens“ from Kew Gardens? lumping them all under that name.

With how isolated Australasia has been from the rest of the world for the last 50 million odd years, Subs and the other two being conspecific would be extremely strange. Mushrooms often are though I suppose

They're possibly introduced to North America on dune grasses imported from Australia. There are also close relatives to the clade in higher elevations in North America and other places. This research could also make the holotype the cyanesnces collected at Kew Gardens. Some fungi tend to just tag along with human colonization.

The latest post in that blog I originally link states that they almost certainly were introduced to those countries.

I should take back what I asked about the holotype, subaruginosa was officially described in Australia before the Kew Gardens cyanescens official description. Very cool study they are doing.
