Bit behind the ball, but some conclusions have been drawn the last two months from a sudden unidentified sickness at a Spanish mink farm last October.
It's the first confirmed case of H5N1 spreading from a mammal to another mammal, and not from a bird to a mammal. This is the first step towards establishing a foothold in mammalian hosts.
H5N1 currently has a slightly greater than 50% mortality rate in humans. So this may well be an extinction-level event for antivaxxers and magas.

Oh you think so? Viruses mutate as they spread. The Delta variant of Covid was far more dangerous than the Omicron variant. It's not vaccination that stopped the pandemic, by the way, it's mutation.

No, it was vaccination and infections. It’s hard to tell if omicron was really less deadly than the other variants, because as the pandemic progressed, more people had acquired immunity and were no longer at serious risk of getting very sick. In some places with low vaccination rates, omicron was the deadliest wave. If omicron had been the first variant when nobody had any immunity, it would have been much worse than the original virus.

Should be fine, we had the first Spanish flu (originating in Kentucky) for that.
