i know that you can dunk straight straw, but what about straight horse poo? would it be beneficial to dunk horse poo, or would it get too wet? and would it be pointless or a good idea? i just dont want the poo to be too soupy from a dunk.
the way i always did my casings when i dunked, was dunk it and then just poor the water out, i didnt drain or anything, just poured water out until it didnt drip from the tray anymore(hey, it worked, no contams) doing this with a straight horse poo grow though, would it be wise?

Dunking is a tried an true method for rehydration. It works but contaminants can be introduced into the substrate, or excess water can be a site for future bacteria explosions. I would advise againsed it until the casing really needs it, like in the late flushes. In the meantime your casing layer should provide enough moisture provided it is deep enough and you water when needed...
My rule of thumb is only to dunk when needed. That is for casings/blocks, I don't do cakes...

I agree with atwar on this. When you do decide to dunk do it with a 10|1 H202 mix to prevent contams.

yes you can dunk straight horse poo...you can dunk anything thats colonized I believe...I have had contams in the casing layer after dunkin a couple times..and after thinking it over I believe this is from the nutrients that mix into the water from teh substrate and get into the casing layer...I could be wrong but this makes sense to me..so I'm not exactly sure what I"m gonna do to stop this...maybe reapply a casing layer right after a dunk...this would probably be best anyways...willl add some time but i'm sure the flushes would make up for it
