new Radiohead
    #2824951 - 06/24/04 07:30 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Every album the production has gotten better. The new style they started after Ok Computer they don't follow a standard rhythm in most of the songs anymore. I dunno if it makes them better songs. I guess so just in an artistic way. The production is so good now. Listen to Sail to the Moon. How spacy, it floats, beautiful.

radiohead are one of my all time favorie music makers.

there early stuff is great, but they have gotten increasingly better as they produce more, definatly.

I never got into Kid A that much. One of my RL friends likes Kid A best too. It has some great moments, but in my humble opinion it's the weakest of the six Radiohead albums.

I see a lot of people say this....but I just can't understand it :smirk:

It's so hard to pick a "best" album from the radiohead collection...but Kid A certainly comes close! It has to be listened to start-to-finish for optimum effect

No way. Personally, I say Pablo Honey was weakest. Even if you don't dig Kid A you can't deny it's huge impact on the musical world at the time, much the same effect as OK Computer (the greatest so far, imo... it caused quite the double-take). You know a band is pushing the envelope when half their fanbase begins to question their sanity in direction. Those same fans aren't bitching now. Radiohead has certainly left an indelible mark on the fabric of music history. I could see them going down as the Pink Floyd of the new milennium.

I think Pablo Honey is second least good...but it grew on me. Now there's only a few songs on Pablo Honey I'm not into: How Do You, Stop Whispering, Anyone Can Play Guitar, I Can't. With Kid A I like Everything in its Right Place, How to Disappear Completely and Motion Picture Soundtrack. National Anthem sounded good live but I dunno, the album overall sounds dischordant to me but I respect them for trying something so different from the last.

the problem with this type of thinking is that its silly to judge one album up against another. Kid A is different than OK, different era, different people. Let it stand alone in its own self contained universe and its amazing.

rate it against your own pretensions and personal experiences and it may not be that good, but thats an inadequate method to understand a piece of art.

I'm the biggest Radiohead freak I know, and the first album I even HEARD by them was Kid A. I bought it the same week it came out and got the special limited edition copy with the "secret" artwork hidden in the packaging behind the CD. I fell in love with that album and it remains as one of my favorites of all time.

I love all their albums for individual reasons, but I think if I were to put a label of "favorite" on any of them it would certainly be Kid A.

"In Limbo" is a really trippy song.. but hell, they all are. Idioteque's probably my favorite on that album.

I love listening to radiohead. Had some of my best and some of my worst times listening to them. I'd love to hear some new stuff by them sometime in the future.
