GET THE FUCK OUTSIDE 8

I made one of these on the growery awhile back, gave me a little extra motivation to get off my ass and also to take some pictures and keep track of what I've been doing.
Haven't done anything at all outdoors over the winter, combination of shitty weather and being too busy at work, definitely with some laziness mixed in. Now that the weather is getting better and my schedule is opening up I'm trying to get out as much as possible. Walking, hiking, biking, whatever
Yesterday went for a walk around the local pond, lots of nice trails through the woods in this area. This one pine forest is my favorite spot there, it goes on for awhile and is a great place to wander when stoned/tripping

Feel free to post any pics/stories of cool outside shit you've been up to

Hiked up to this spot pretty close to me, nice lookout over Boston and the surrounding suburbs. Short walk and only a couple hundred feet of elevation, made me realize I'm pretty out of shape though. Really have to work on that before hiking season starts

Aye, cool thread idea for definite- love to see where people hang out in the wild! That first pic of the third post looks to be a cool as hell spot and I'd definitely like to blaze there.

^Cliff walk in January (no filter, awesome purple evening)

^V nice meditation spot

^First Crocus of Spring, gets me hyped every time.
Extremely blessed to be within an hour, hour and a halfs (halves?) walk of all of these shots.
Can't wait to see more- especially as Spring and Summer roll round!

Walked a couple miles through the woods and around the pond tonight, vaped on a bench and watched the ducks swim and the sun go down

That spot's a real hidden gem, 70k people in the city it's in but I almost always have the "mountain" top to myself since it's a good little uphill and you have to go off trail to get to the best lookout.
It's a magical spot in the fall when the foliage pops-
(not my pic)

It's always crazy seeing the area from a high viewpoint, you really don't realize how many trees there are when you're in town

Cheers, yeah it definitely gives a fantasy vibe! Strolled through that forest with the bridge in with the "Skyrim Suite" playing many times
Stuff like that pops up all over the place in (more rural) UK, in my experience.

Hell yeah! Although I personally love the Autumn/Winter, cold 'n open, bare branch kind of skeletal, sparse colour aesthetic- I'm stoked for everything to fill back out with a bit of green. So I can imagine if you ain't into it then it would be a bit draggy- definitely a lot of brown in the woods in those pics for sure

Daaaaaaaaaamn! Yeah the lookout from there seems amazing- 100% worth the small steps you mentioned to get there
Threads got me hyped to visit some spots for a rip.

UK looks like it has some great scenery, one day I'll make it out there
I love fall/winter for bushwacking, it's a whole lot easier to explore off trail without dealing with thorns, poison ivy, bushes/vegetation etc. It's definitely got a cool vibe to it as well, I'm glad to live somewhere I can enjoy all the seasons
Trying to go to at least 2 different conservation areas a week, all the pics so far are from like 5-10 minutes from my house and places I've been a bunch so I'm excited to start expanding more and checking out surrounding towns. Also looking forward to it being warm enough to take the bike out.
Tonight I went to one of my favorite areas around, I don't really go here in the summer because it gets overrun with ticks and poison ivy and the trails aren't maintained. It's only a mile or two of trails in a small sliver of land between ritzy housing developments, but the scenery makes me feel like I'm up in the mountains somewhere

So much variety for a 'small' island, I'm sure you'll find some sick spots when/where ever you make it over.

Absolutely, there's times where I'm out in the wild toward peak Summer here and become so aware if I were to fall and get KO'd, I'd be wrapped in gnarly plant long before the time I woke up.
It's an unreal transformation of space, some places.

Never seen lily pads like that in my area, super cool looking. Great shots of the mountains too
Did a few miles yesterday on a trail through some farms. Today I got up early and hiked an 8 mile loop on a trail system around a local reservoir, 1000 feet of elevation which is pretty decent for some suburb hiking. Actually kind of sore from it

Been feeling a million times better now that I'm getting out almost every day. Looks like this coming week will be warm enough to get some bike rides in

Should've done a few smaller hikes before jumping into the 8 mile one, the trail was pretty rocky and it feels like my ankle is a little bit strained now. Nothing serious though, just gonna rest it for a week then ease back into things. Just when I was getting into a solid routine

Thanks! Most of those are right around the house. I got out permanently about 20 years ago and moved to an island in the middle of nowhere lol. I don't get out and long hike as much as I used to but still spend a lot of time on the water and shorter treks. Now a days my outdoor time is more like this.

Thanks man. The ankle is probably 50% recovered now, feels fine on flat ground but lets me know it's still a little angry if I'm bending it at all on rocky trails. Definitely going to keep easing my way back into things so it doesn't turn into a bigger issue, getting old sucks
Did another local hill today, couple miles of street walking then a quick trail through the woods to get up to the top of the hill and water tower area

Was coming down off a smallish 50mg ketamine dose. The weather was perfect, just about 70f and not even the slightest breeze. Felt trippy being up there as sun was setting, surrounded by purple clouds and still a little dissociated. K doesn't really mesh well with outdoors for me though

Definitely, though I've even been enjoying just sitting outside in my yard a lot too. Lots of wildlife to watch, once the leaves grow in there'll be plenty of privacy to take some mushies or tabs and relax
Went for my first bike ride of the year, perfect day for it. Just a few miles through the woods. Hung out by the lake for awhile

Very noice! With the right form, cycling feels minimally disruptive to my body, wish I could get a bike again- some day for sure!
Man would I LOVE to skim a few flatties on that lake- try and get a nice 8+er for me next time you're down there, eh? (then again, I see no loose rock whatsoever in that pic)
Everything where you live is so brown dude, I see how that gets old through Winter
EDIT 14/04: A few more.

EDIT: 18/04, grabbed these before work this morning. Nice walk, bit grey but still cool. REEKED of wild garlic all over.

Sweet pics. The one with the stream looks like a really trippy spot. Is it true it's pretty much always cloudy over there? Finally seeing the first leaves pop back up on the trees here, spring has arrived.
Been working like crazy at the new job so have just been crashing when I get home, probably for the best to let the ankle rest, it's feeling almost back to normal now. Going to check out a local state park this weekend most likely. It's supposed to be nice out later so I might find something to do tonight too, I'm really starting to like being out in the woods at sunset/dusk

My first patient of the day cancelled on me today, took the time to walk Battle Road which was down the street from his house. It's a 5 mile trail/fields where colonial militiamen fought and chased out the redcoats during the revolutionary war.

Then went for an after dinner walk around the local pond, caught this guy chillin in the trees-

It's a lush spot that one. Eh, cloudy a lot but as you'll see from my 420 pics it not a 365 thing haha. First leaves popping out of the bud is so fucking sick

Thanks man, and great pic.. where is that?
I finally got up to the mountains yesterday, did a 6 mile day on a nice loop. Wasn't able to hit the summit since the snow and ice made it extremely slow going and it was getting dark, the snow cover was just shallow and spotty enough that snowshoes and spikes would have been more of a hassle than a help. Had a good sturdy boot on and even with post-holing a million times my ankle is feeling pretty good today, I'm probably good to start heading for the higher peaks soon. Gonna wait until the snow melts though

Didn't get any pics of the deep snow, it got waist-deep in the shady spots with solid ice on the steep sections. Hell of a workout, luckily the side of the mountain we descended on was totally dry because my legs were really getting rubbery

Ducklings and baby swans all over the pond area yesterday. The next couple weeks the baby geese will start and then there'll be hundreds of turtles out sunning themselves. Really want to take a tab and walk around there sometime soon

Just got back from walking the dog across the street. Put in four miles and she still wants to play. Kitty's getting a houndful right now.

Not much in the way of fungi today. A few dried lbms and a conk.

Home stretch. My place is the trees on the far side.

Took my girl to the beach yesterday. It's a short but steep trail that ties into a bigger loop. I think we did about 4-5 miles of lower and upper body workout. Going down..

Made it without her dragging me on my ass lol. Tide wasn't very low this time. Last week we had extreme low tides.. but I forgot the phone at home.

McMicken Island (the little one). That's where we were last week but came in by boat. The tides were low enough to walk the normally underwater sand bar to Harstine Island then. Managed a couple limits of steamer clams with the help of the dog. She's a great clam digger!

Not my pic, but this is the sand bridge when the tides out.

Awwwww yeah! Loving the latest pics, feevers and chosen_one! Such a motivation seeing all that green

I'm not long back from my favourite camping spot, a secluded cave on the hillside deep among coniferous woodland.
Scratch favourite camping spot, it's probably my favourite spot overall- feels like home PLUS
Blasted a nice 4g LemonTek of Natalensis up here, all the fir needle/cones took on a distinct Peacock patterning (construction isn't far off sober anyway) and the transition between layered rock inside and seemingly endless trees capped off with a vast, rippling, hexagonal sky outside was all I could have ever asked for, visually.

Such is the experience on that dose, I'd be melted into my camp chair one minute (one homie described "Looks like someone fucking folded Lithops clothes over the chair with him in them." ) my soul barely tethered to me anymore: weaving between labyrinths of coals guided by whatever chord-change came next, then jumping up & dancing around all of a sudden as the wave dictated, boogieing to the likes of Thundercat "Oh Sheit it's X" hooting & hollering into the gradually dimming light, up to what I was certain to be countless UFOs coming out to play.
I had the shakes proper bad and as such could never get a clear sight on my monocular, coincidence? Absolutely.

Come about 2:30am the homies were asleep but I'd had another few grams (cubes) so I sat, feet up with nice big vape of Northern Lights doing mantra while I watched the lights in the sky sparkle & flit about all over the place, fucking gorgeous time.

The magic of this place is SO palpable- waking up to the impossibly dense soundscape of birds on the dawn chorus, punctuated by the rustling & occasional creaking of the Larches/Pines is life affiriming to the utmost degree.

Seen what I believe to be a young Lions Mane, my first in the wild!

And some purple-pored bracket (they tend to be a lot more purple along the margin in the cold, in my experience. And yeah, I staged the pinecones ARock style )

The following afternoon, I stopped into this really vast Poppy field and just sat in among the rustling for a while and thought about the previous nights trip, so serene.

Going back next month.

Love being alive and nothing reminds me of that in such a multifaceted way than GETTING THE FUCK OUTSIDE!

Looking East.. Mt. Rainier in the distance.

Zoomies..

That's a pretty surreal looking area, if a spot like that existed around here there'd be 10000 people and trash everywhere
Been getting out a decent amount, some kayaking and some bike riding. The weather has been either like 90 and brutally sunny or down pouring. Hope it evens out soon so I can get up to the mountains, the last 3 weekends have been rain and thunderstorms
Ended up kayaking through this really cool flooded out forest over the weekend, almost like mangroves. It went on for miles along the bank of the river I was on

Thats a creepy carving, that would scare the shit out of me coming across that in the woods . Any story behind it?
Nice mushies, they're popping up everywhere here as well
Yeah we bought a tandem kayak. I have some shoulder issues (basically my whole body has been falling apart since I hit 30) so having the 2-person boat is great if I tweak something and can't paddle, though it's been pretty good so far now that I'm learning the proper technique. If I'm still into it next year I'll probably get a single for myself as well to do some solo trips
I also like the bigger boat because I can set it so that I can lie down and kick my feet up . We took it up to this awesome lake in the mountains this morning, tied up to a buoy in the middle of the lake and just kicked back for awhile, with a few tokes mixed in. It was nice and sunny for awhile then at one point a heavy rainstorm passed through quickly, it was pretty epic seeing it coming at us full speed across the lake.

Was so tempted to jump in, haven't tested it out yet to see if it's possible to get back in it from the water though lol, looks like it might be tough

Haha, he ain't creepy IMO. Just keep your eyes peeled when you're next out alone in the woods No idea on the backstory, wish I had some epic lore about it. The woods connected to a big manor house and arboratum so I imagine it was just a comissioned piece.

Noice, other than the bad shoulder sounds like pretty good times/plans all round Hopefully as your technique improves range of motion or pain stuff will be less and less of a factor.

That's the great thing about Washington State is just about every environment you could want is within a few hours drive. Born and raised here, and will probably die here due to extreme taxation.
It's getting worse.. now the outdoors are coming to me. One of my customers just brought in 50lbs of Manila Clams they harvested from their property. 5 Limits!!! To be split with my co-worker, but that's still a lot of good eating.

I did some research and it's nearly impossible to get back into one of these tandem kayaks after going overboard, glad I didn't give it a try . Would've been a long swim/tow back to shore

That's what I like about where I live too. 30 minutes to the city, 30 minutes to some nice beaches, an hour and a half to the mountains or the lakes region. The population density makes things a lot more crowded than it probably is out your way though, much less space here. Fortunately my wife and I are super early risers so we rarely ever hit the crowds on our adventures
That's a lot of clams, makes me want some seafood. I'm kind of ashamed to admit I have no idea the difference between clams, oysters, mussels etc. I've never ordered lobster because I have no idea how to eat it . Love a lobster roll though, had a foot long one in Maine last weekend that cost me 40 bucks

Got out on one of the local rivers today, paddled down to Encore casino right on the outskirts of Boston. Was going to keep paddling through the city and into the harbor/ocean area but there was a big dam/"lock" that I had no idea what the protocol was for going through. I just googled it and you're supposed to have some sort of loud whistle or horn to blow twice for them to open up, but if you get lucky you can just wave down the person working in the control tower and have them open it for you. Might give that a shot next time
Planning to do some backpacking in the mountains next week, really looking forward to it. Now that the wife and I have hammocks we can really get out in the backcountry, in NH it's extremely rare to find a patch of ground even enough and with no rocks/vegetation to set up a tent on. I've hiked over 10 miles before without being able to find a single tentable spot, but with the hammocks there are far more options.
Gonna find a spot somewhere around this pond

It's a really nice hike that is far enough in that it's not super well traveled. Looking at the topography it may be possible to bushwack up to a spot in the hills looking down over the pond and setup there. May munch on some mushrooms depending on how everything works out.

^That's all looking fuckin lush, feevers! Sounds like you're really getting at the kayaking as well as experiencing some really cool spots-less-travelled.
Hammocking around there with your SO then getting up for a kayak & blaze would be muy bueno. Hope you're both having/ do have an awesome one- since it should be about that time now that you're out there!

Been getting out tonnes to loads of awesome spots but often don't have my phone to take pics
HOWEVER- I hopped in the bath after eating a 4g Natalensis choconut bar the other night, decided I REALLY needed some nature on the comeup so I grabbed my headphones & walked out to the river for a while and snapped these before:

^ The birds in flight on that one look exactly how I remember... It's like my phone was tripping too As soon as I slap it on 'airplane mode' it must know the score lol.
^The depth to the clouds was surreal and if I focused on them too much my view started pulsing like crazy. Had one headphone cup pulled half away from my ear, the sounds of nature combined with music with the sun starting to set was fucking amazing. Egrets that looked whiter than snow against the evening light, massive Heron in their roosts along the edge (they both fly like a Quetzal it's so sick! It was really apparant to me that they evolved this way when observing them that night) and all sorts of other river birds- not to mention the 25 plus Crows flying around me made for such an immersive magical atmosphere.
Some of the birdsong was REALLY whacky sounding.
Overall, a fucking great nature experience.

That looks awesome!

Lithop, I bet these clouds were stunning from your perspective! Beautiful spots you chose for your trip!
I finally got the fuck out to try out my new mountain bike.

...and went for a hike in the nature reserve in the afternoon.

...came back feeling completely balanced. I really needed that.

Almost TOO stunning... The trail on that second pic looks inviting, cool fuckin view! Gotta get myself a bike again... Glad to hear it was a good time man, excersise and nature definitely allow some balance back into the picture.

Really love tripping out in nature....

Caught that sparrowhawk in flight with anomalous sky at the woods edge.
 This peacock butterfly was amazing.
Stood transfixed by a mallard hen with ducklings too, didn't want to spook it by getting close for pics though. The purple triangle on the hen was so vibrant and the ducklings... never seen that level of fuzz
Not much variety in fruits with how dry it has been here, hopefully that will all change soon!

 Pinnochio looking lichenised little guy.
^This is where my photo record dropped off for several hours.
^Then a nice view on the walk home along the river, great place to think and appreciate nature. The sky was alive with heron, egrets, crows, geese etc etc- all sorts of stuff- looking to the sky through spirals of birds gives such an amazing feeling.
Finished with Summer by now though, roll on Autumn- the supreme season and, IMO the best time to GET THE FUCK OUTSIDE!

I used to love tripping in the back country.. until the great squatch encounter of 08 I think it was. Now I just keep it local.
Finally got into the high country for three days recently. Olympic Mountains, Quilcene area.
Mt Walker view point. You can drive a dirt road here or hike/bike the trail. The water is Puget Sound and that's Mt Rainier in the distance.

Some views from higher up.

Down on the upper portion of the river there were plenty of nice Cut Throat Trout to be caught and a few nice clusters of mushrooms.

Pink Salmon are gathering in the lower river and still hitting just about every fly you drop in front of them. It's tempting to go back this weekend lol.

Wowee! All great shots, that place looks absolutely beautiful man! Very, VERY nice. That's my favourite pic that I left in the quote there, nice mushroom ones too.

That's Mt. Olympus in the back. View was from one of the camps. Somewhere in some really old photos I have the reverse view from the top. That was back when I could hike 20 miles in a day. I probably still could.. but it would be the only day. I'd need a week to recover.

Incredible places you post here. I get where you're coming from too, but man- if ever there's something worth taking a week to recover from, hiking that has got to be up there

Awesome pics guys
I've been slacking on getting out, every weekend I've planned something has ended up being stormy. Heading out to Colorado the week after next though, can't wait to get back to the rockies
I did get out kayaking a couple weeks back though. There's a little brook that branches off a big river near me and runs a pretty long distance through the city, can only get up stream on it when the water is really high. Made it like 15 minutes up stream before we hit some downed trees and couldn't pass. Lots of ducks and swans the whole way down, it's a really cool experiencing paddling down through a city I've driven through so many times

lib hunting in norway! we have the right to go wherever the hell we want here. but camping is restricted to like 100m from houses
its quite cool that the main hobby here is to get out and enjoy some spectacular shiet.
and we have a tourist assosiation where you pay a yearly fee of like 80bucks and that gives you a key to 700+ cabins spread all over,. more than half of them even have a food storage where you pay later. its worked for over a 100 years now. amazing stuff

so cool. that sounds too good to be true. there are no military installations over there or something? does the king get a special little patch of forbidden forest somewhere or anything? are there wonderful herbs up in those mountains? is that all granite? can you take more pics of the woodwork next time you go up please? those cabins are beautiful they look like home thanks for sharing

yeah i really like it over here, its wet as fuck but the closenes to nature and the culture around it is great. there are very few open military areas. i guess they have penetrated the mountains pretty good by now.. The king is quite casual here (we have a "democracy") but for sure he have some amazing properties somewhere. no private forrests though i that sense, i guess they own quite some land here and there as investments.
quite some herbs yes. like wild thyme, rose root, and many more. its very depending on altitude and how close to the ocean and artic circle one gets. many different biotopes.
sure iĺl bring a better camera next time. there is houses like that littered everywhere. back in the days the only way to survive where to have pastures up on the mountains, now most of them are cabins with loads of libs growing :P

we are nearing the end of the post-reality era and turning back into that long awaited spiritual reawakening- the return to the concept of oneness: the reverence and rememberance that all is One. reality is taking hold as the true religion and will guide us through the post-nihilism phase to salvation. now the ravens, high preists of their order- are watching this all go down. they will be the last extant bird and will remember everything they see, and they will be up there fasting and screaming their hymns and cleaning their parasites with ice and sun medicine. bathing in the incense of the most powerful wind they can find, taking in the sulfur plumes and shaking the whole earth with their feet when they take hold of that treacherous peak. there was another bird too but too small to make out

maybe trying for just experiencing it first, and seeing if you wind up enjoying any little part of it. getting really good at being lonely helps a lot too. just so you know, ive been all over and they bitch about the weather everywhere everyone just sits inside all the time everywhere. seems like really good habitat for hardy fruits and all the woodloving actives down there. are there any cool plants to collect? do you want a bunch of random seeds from far away lands?

Went on a Colorado trip last week with the wife. Did some hiking and exploring in Frisco, Breckenridge, I-84 to Aspen, Glenwood Springs, I-70 to Vail, the canyons at Grand Junction... tried to see as much as possible while still finding time to relax. Magical. Off season so mostly quiet everywhere and everything was pretty cheap

That’s the color it is. It’s where the McKenzie river comes out of the ground. It’s usually busy, but it’s closed now from wildfire activity.

my first time posting on here in like 10 years I think. Shocked the password didn't really take that many tries. Wish I could say the same about the external hard drive I encrypted while on FXE thinking it was a good security measure to change the password and not write it down. 10 years worth of photography work gone. (lmao kinda but still bummed on that... ONE DAY :/)
So, since I'm now also on FXE, about a year after I fucked myself with the original password fiasco. Here are some pics I took yesterday, was gonna do some more editing but for some reason didn't feel right. Not how I used to post my Shroomery pics usually. Hope this works...

just felt like I should post this here for some reason. Guess I was happier 10 years ago, but being outside yesterday reminded me of this place. And snorting a few hundred milligrams of FXE definitely did and I should probably get my life together but yeah I"ll just post this here.

I went hiking in the clouds while on a nice trip the other morning. This picture was when the clouds started burning off. When I was sitting at the top I could only see about 20 feet in front of me and I kept seeing little people and a giant. I assume a giant cause I could only see its legs and feet.

I haven't been out in nature much lately, but I'll take a day trip to the mountains this weekend to stock up on beef, so I'll be able to hike around and enjoy some sights.
This is an old photo from a place I like to visit sometimes, I gotta get up there when there's some snow to check out the winter scenery.

hell yeah just GTFO and damn near fell through the ice under a waterfall taking these as I was standing on ice covered rocks and a frozen creek. Thankfully it was thick enough and I didn't get fucked up when I slipped on ice awkwardly holding my camera. Ice was thankfully just strong enough, cracked the shit out of it though and could see the water moving below the weakest spot where I fell. Wew lads. Probably shouldn't have risked walking where I did alone with no cell reception and doubt anybody hiked there after me today (it's in the cut anyway, a weekday, cold as fuck out, and it was getting dark). So if I got injured prob would've been sitting (slowly) dying of hypothermia there as it snows like 6" tonight and prob wouldn't have been found for at least 2-3 days. Guess I would've had to chill behind the falls where it's dry and hope for the best. Had a bottle of water, can of chew, and vape pen at least lol.
But thankfully that didn't happen so here are the pics. Was a beautiful day to take in nature glad I got out. Been bumming out so brought my spirits up to see the waterfall had frozen over so nicely and just get out and do something healthy for a change. Almost got a few closeups of birds with my zoom lens but they eluded me today as usual.
