I found this
https://carnegieendowment.org/publications/interactive/protest-tracker
But trying to find a source or data thar compares current with historical as well as a measure of severity
I've read that civil unrest has doubled in the last decade

If anything, people seem more passive. These things ebb and flow, and nothing about now seems particularly notable

As is rising and falling of civilizations

Yeah, violent crime is way down worldwide over the last 30 years. I can't imagine that civil unrest is up. I mean, when was the last time a major U.S. metro had an actual riot? L.A. in the early 90s?

I watched a shit ton of rioting in 2020. Some of them were off the hook entertaining.
It was interesting to watch the tactics of the rioters and the police evolve night after night.

Meh, that wasn't no real rioting. Closest thing was maybe when they burned down that precinct in Minneapolis. I will grant that the cops wore a lot of riot gear in 2020

Mostly peaceful protests they were called. Like January 6 was an unguided tour of Congress.
I remember towards the end when the police had figured out how to corral them into dead ends and surround them I think it was in Louisville when the...protesters...opened fire and shot their way out.
That shit was crazy. I watched it live.

By far the funniest one and I can't remember what city it was but they had fucked around and gotten surrounded in a church yard.
The main...protester...had a real potty mouth. He was saying some hilarious shit about how his homies were fucking the police officers wives while they were working overtime and other crazy shit.
But then when they realized they were surrounded and they were all going to jail he started crying like a little bitch whining about "Let us go! We've got women and children in here!"

Remember when Trump had Lafayette square cleared with tear gas so he could walk to the church and hold a Bible upside down? Many of those protesters ended up getting kettled on a small residential street a half mile north of the White House later that evening. The Swann Street siege. Hundreds were arrested, but some residents let protesters in, most famously a guy took in 74 protesters for 8 hours until the police left in the morning. It’s quite a story:

The US isn't rioting but other countries are
The US seems to be one of the last and most docile countries based on whats going on in other parts of the world in terms of standing up
The data for the last decade doesn't seem to agree with your opinions

Who is rioting? The French? Pretty typical for France.

It was the protesting against macron I recently saw in Paris that made me wonder about the rest of the world and how it compares to historic levels
From what I can tell most of the protesting seems to stem from covid, or agricultural, as well as the typical political
The info I saw was only comparing the last decade and was hoping to find data that stretched longer but I'm not sure how hard it would be to make accurate comparisons since I agree that it's likely something that wanes and ebbs from good times to bad

And that is why they work 35 hours week and retire at 64ish, while we Americans work 40 hour weeks (but, on average, we work overtime) and retirement is 70.

Yeah but you had to pay dues in order to reap the rewards so unions are bad and stealing from you or something.

It's true , I pay 35 per month and my employer pays like 70 , so about 105 a month .... there's also a $400 buy in initially . A couple big dudes took me in the bathroom and tried to beat it out of me , you can buy in or get jumped in , you get 100 discount if you let them jump you in and it's free if you win .
