I got flashbacks for like 11 seconds twice today. Roughly.

it is an admission of the joy which accompanies non-judgement, silly, I thought you understood that.

I just want to mention, that unsatisfactoriness can be detected instantly (at a glance), the quality of not perfectly what is desired, or as suddenly a red flag to a pre-existing concern.

However, we often do not notice something that we like if it is not changing, as our whole brain apparatus were geared towards changes, rather than tracking the status of what is holding steady.

This means that nearly all of what we notice has the immediate quality of unsatisfactoriness, as it is normally a change from the OK-ness of a moment before.
Up to this point, no judgement is applied, really, this is all in the time frame of instant reflexes, in the less than 1/3 second range of cognitive events.
There hasn't yet been time to begin formulating words that articulate feelings or take offense or defense.

The area of cognition that I am trying to steer Pinkerton towards, is the same thing that I am trying to steer Ferdinando towards, for different reasons.

Ferdinando is interested in Enlightenment, which is regarded in the literature as a state of mind, but it is not a state at all, it is the essence of being in change, or the essence of change while being - something that we all already are, even if we do not behave as if we were enlightened - which in this case means more "informed and wise" - Still, if we are not connected with the changes around and within us, then we cannot have enlightened behavior, so there is a yin-yang aspect between bare awareness (or beginners mind) and enlightenment - wisdom connected to reality.

The thing is that when the mind seems to wander and not be aware of what is happening (or what has stopped changing enough to track), as in distraction during meditation, then we can say we are in mara, or distracted, not aware, but really it is still the same mind, just possibly not reflecting the recently interesting, or perhaps reverting to seeking to see what is good or better, and missing what is actual, fresh, real, fleeting, and probably unsatisfactory (the norm).

Reflecting on unsatisfactoriness, then, the meditator can be filled with moment to moment changes within and around, and this is what I was alluding to before as a source of joy, tearing off the veil that hides the unchanging, and rejects the unsatisfactory.

For Pinkerton, the predicament is sustained confinement for years - but the same approach provides some relief from kneejerk reflexes that have kept him confined (with "unsatisfactory" intrusive thoughts).

I am trying to bring a consensus together on the matter of mental contents, which is the activity of mind, some of which is sensory and some of which is reflex perception from memory. mental contents shift continuously at ~10 shifts per second, with some suppression of what is not changing (sensory and perceptively).
Perception reflexes against mental contents and influences it.

Recently active mental contents are more easily perceived than other resting memory, and that is what keeps us on track. Often this is referred to as working memory or short term memory - both of which allude but fail to reflect that it is just the set of recently active cortical neurons.

Anyway, What I am doing here with Pinky and with Ferdinando is to help them keep the ideas of awareness in recently active area, so that perceptions will reflect upon reflecting more easily, so it is easier for them to get back to living in the moment.

reflecting or bare attention is what I am promoting, as opposed to judgement and choosing, or exercising will etc. all of which I believe has already happened by the time a reflection has turned into a reflex perception chain of events.

I often giggle at what you write, not because it is funny or "stupid" but the complete opposite - it is way above my level.

Well, we are not there yet. That is for sure. Voices told me we are far away during a troublesome session of intrusive/racing thoughts.
