The first pic , i mean second down between 8 and 7 o'clock before the two sectors meet. Take the smallest of sliver.

Or the tomatoes growth at 11 12 oclock in the middle of the patch. I saw a guy take different transfers and the tomatoes or how it's spelled grew out rhizo.

You should assume that any LC is contaminated and verify it's cleanliness on agar before using it. Just because you paid someone for it doesn't mean that it's clean. If you're just going to inject LC it's not a big deal to use a SAB as you can leave the bag rolled up and just inject through the side - If you want to G2G to bags, a hood or FFU is pretty much required to be consistently successful.
Myers Mushrooms has good pricing on partial/full cases. T series bags are .5u filters - just pick the size that you want to run. 3T's are commonly used with 3-5lbs of spawn for tubs
T series bags are .2 filters A series bags are .5
Doh! Thanks for correcting that

Most likely from drying out though. Perhaps rough handling or too much fresh air. I wouldn't fuck with it too much since those cakes probably don't have much life left in them. One on the top right is all aborts.
I've tried to be gentle, just picked them up a few times to harvest, & they did fall over once or twice, that's a pretty short fall tho. The've only been sprouting for a week. I thought maybe it was too humid, I've had it at 99%, or close most of the time. Temp has been 68-77.

hi everyone,
First time going to rye.
Can someone recommend a good writeup for haw to prep rye for 1 quart mason jars that will then be going to shoeboxes?
I looked at willywonka's and CH's, wondering if there is a more recent approach.
I have two more questions: 1. Do I drop only one wedge per quart jar or do I do a tigerDrop and dump a whole plate?
2. Lids on jars. I see some of you have lids with some type of seal or valve or something. Can I proceed with normal lids or will I have to modify something?

Rye and wheat are similarly done for me. Wheat just gets cooked longer. Pretty easy… measure out between 1 - 1 1/8 cup dry grain (depending on how much you want each qt filled. Rinse the grains and drain off a few times until the water is clear.
Bring 3x the amount of water to grains to a boil with the grains in the water. Once boiling, reduce to simmer and cook until you see a burst grain or two. With rye I think it was ~30 mins. With wheat it’s 38-40 mins. I strain it and rinse with hot water and then cold but a lot of ppl just let it steam dry but I like to rinse the starches off the grains so they don’t stick as much after pc’ing. I let sit in the strainer for ~30 mins and shake the water out the bottom a few times and then load the jars. You should look into wheat too. I like it over rye and it’s usually cheaper. Hard red winter wheat is my go to
This is what my wheat looks like 4 days after making it. I prefer a little more hydration than a lot of ppl so you can drop those times as needed
You can use as much inocate as you want. The more you use, the faster the jar will get done colonizing.
Lots of ppl use unmodded lids. I hear the leak proof gray lids work better than the cheap white ones. You just crack the lid for GE. Check out pasty’s lid tek

Funny you mentioned water agar. I just read up on this a few days prior and realized the value….had been meaning to mix up a round for about a week. ..Poured my first batch of WA last night and did about 2 dozen T1’s this afternoon.
The germ plates smelled nice and mushroomy so I know I’m at least on the right course. Saving a few in case Plins decide to pop off, hopefully get my feet wet with that too.
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice. Being that the plates were all a mess haha I just transferred from the densest areas. Tried to avoid the big blotches of bacteria and whatever the pink shit was as best I could.

Awesomeness 🍀. I got my first flushes coming in nicely of my Texas yellow caps. I didn't have any extra bags so I went liner free and my monos got a bunch of side shrooms, no biggie. They will get harvest probably tonight, since they are mostly ready on the sides the pins shouldn't be disturbed too much in the center and get a nice follow up first flush.
Seems I ran out of upload space.. These were spawned with jars that showed signs of bacteria.

Hello friends. I'd be hugely grateful for some advice on my situation -
I've got this LC test plate which I poured LC onto a week ago & decided it looked healthy enough to test on some jars..
I was eager to go so I PC'd & inoculated 7 jars of millet 5 days ago with said LC & these are the most active so far.
Do you think this growth is suspicious on either the agar or millet? It'd save me a lot of time to find out from someone with a better idea than me if they look potentially contaminated.
Cheers for any help, images below.
edit: that's a great quote in your sig Soloist, true words.

Yeah wet grains & too much condensation then the space on the agar dish didn't look too promising but was hoping someone would think otherwise lul
My LC's keep letting me down.. & I'm not sure where it's going wrong

I'm going to be making my first lc in the next day or so,I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. If the plate had bacteria before you took your wedge than it could be transferring over with it.

Appreciate the help guys. It was from a Plate Pin off an overgrown dish I had already taken 2 transfers from which sounds ridiculous now that I'm typing it lol. It had no signs of contam that I could see but I'm a meat head so. Bad idea?
I'm going to be making a new LC today with a T2 dish I have. Here are images of both. Do you think this one's more suitable?

I finally got my tent up, the last few batches of wbs I've been preparing have been coming up bacteria free. I reduced the soak time to about 16 to 18 hours and been letting it dry out better before sterilizing and using it withing a couple days. I got about 20 jars that's been shaken and recovered quickly and cleanly, another 18 to shake today and some more grain to grain transfers. Working up to a full tent.

Why are these jars stalled? [Re: Inocuole]

I am a total noob, this is part of the first round of growing I've done.
I've been working to follow Bod's teks for the most part, although I've read so many different things that I've got all kinds of info swirling in my head. I PC'd whole oats (after boiling as per instructions until the starch was gelatinized) in jars, and inoculated with liquid culture from [vendor]. This is Jedi Mind F*ck. It started out beautifully; soft fuzzy mycelium spreading quickly from multiple points. I shook at 30% and 70%. The first photo is immediately before the 70% shake. Then, they seem to have stalled. There are some chunky spots of INTENSELY thick mycelium, but it still looks like mycelium to my (admittedly untrained) eye - I don't see any off colors or any non-mycelium growth patterns that I recognize, but those splotches of white have held steady for a couple of weeks. There was some temperature fluctuation before I got a proper controlled incubation setup (ceramic heat lamp with thermostat, keeping it between 75'F and 78'F) and at one point, I think the jars got some direct sun before I realized that it was happening - they were in a clear plastic tub, and the sun hits it during the day when I'm at work. I don't know if this could have somehow cooked it partway.
I've thought about just sending these jars to substrate to see what happens and to get my jars back so I can do another round. I've also thought about sending them to the compost bin in the yard and calling it a learning experience. I'm going through and experimenting with a variety of different methods; I've also got other grain jars that are colonizing quickly now from LC and from A2G that I grew from spore print, then transferred to clean up... so I'm not emotionally attached to this, mostly just curious about what it's doing and why.
