casing question - is it cobweb mold?
    #2823676 - 06/24/04 12:15 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hi,
I cased some cakes about 6 days ago. Bottom layer of vermiculite, middle layer of crumbled John Allen cakes (100% colonized), top layer of 50/50 organic compost/verm.

I left the casing in a dark terrium for 3 days and there was white stuff poking through in a few places. I patched the spots and went to 12 hours diffused light, 12 hours dark and today I have more spots of white stuff poking through each casing. It's white and cottony.

What should I do? Does this sound like overlay or cobweb mold?

Thanks in advance

Neither, it sounds like mycelium poking through the casing layer, which is what you want.
