Balanced mod views

In PA&L, I notice that they have a liberal mod(trendal), a conservative mod(pinksharkmark), and one in between(Baby_Hitler). I think it's important to have such a balance of views in the mods of a forum, and I think it would make similar sense to have the skeptics represented in the modship of this forum. Now, I don't read enough of MAIA's posts, so I don't know if he would be considered a "skeptic" or not, so if he is, just ignore this post. Otherwise, I ask that this idea be taken into consideration.

im not aware of any incidents of the mod's deleting a post because it was too skeptical or too religious/believing
so why do we need mod's to represent particular interests? the point of the forum is indiscriminatory sharing of ideas and beliefs, and i think its working fine.

Ya'll should make me a moderator of this forum so I can start abusing said granted power, all as a part of my undying pursuit of pure evil.
As my first act under my given duties, I will now move this thread to the Website Feedback and Announcements forum, where I feel it belongs.
Peace.

A skeptic would scrutinze his declaration as a skeptic more than that.

Of course. Swami and pinksharkmark are both skeptics on this forum, yet if you look at their posts on the political forum, you'll find they have very different political views.

I think there's quite a difference between being a skeptic...and being an ass about it
My first response, when reading anything, is to question the validity of the information presented. I certainly try not to hold any beliefs of any kind. I'm not sure what else you are looking for in a "skeptic"...
Unless you're looking for a debunker-mod. I don't feel any need to "debunk" the views of members on this board. 90% of the time if I don't agree with something I read...no one is going to hear about it. I am content to let everyone here think what they wish...and certainly do not want to waste my time here playing ego games about who knows more and who's ideas are the right ideas

But do you question the ideas of others? I don't usually try to discredit people's ideas(unless it's outright disinformation), but I try to ask questions which will help them examine the validity their ideas.

As I said in my last post: My first response, when reading anything, is to question the validity of the information presented.
Now, like I also said, I don't always (or usually) make such questioning public. I always question the ideas of others...but only as a method of reaching the truth in a personal sense. If I feel that I can help someone else with their idea(s) I may try to add something to the conversation...but in general I prefer to simply analyze, sort, and file those ideas into my own theoretical framework.
Actually...I find it rather odd that anyone wouldn't question every peice of information they come accross!

Why should a mod question the beliefs of someone posting in a forum entitled "Philosophy and Spirituality"? Or discredit their ideas?
A belief is a belief is a belief. Or, as Helmstetter put it, in What to Say When You Talk to Yourself, "Belief does not require something to be true. It only requires us to believe that it is true. That's powerfule stuff! That means most of what reality is, to each of us, is based on what we have come to believe--whether it's true or not!"
I can understand asking questions of a poster to better understand why he believes what he believes, or to understand from where his beliefs derive, but to question for the purpose of discrediting is kind of ill-suited for this type of forum, imo.

I consider myself in between both positions. Anyway, a mod should be unbiased, even if he's one thing or another or both. So, i don't really see the need to classify mods according to their personal tastes.
