setting up a blog thatmakes money?

I'd like to just try and write a simple blog, by bullet pointing my thoughts and having chatgpt expand on them
What's the simplest way to make a blog with AdSense attached?
I have made python and ruby websites before, I'd like to keep it simpler than that and not have to figure out programming
Any ideas?

Pyramid scheme style. Make a blog about how to make money. All it costs is a couple of bucks to join. Are you interested in learning more?

I have almost no knowledge on about half the things people do on the internet. How is money made if there isn't a subscription or other sale? When someone produces content that becomes very popular, are they getting paid from embedded advertising? I know that successful musicians make very little from each listen, so probably most amateur productions make nothing. But what about some unknown who develops a huge following?

Affiliate advertising links are the most common way to monetize a website. We use them here at the Shroomery too, although do our best to keep them as minimally intrusive as possible. Affiliate partners such as Amazon and eBay will allow you to embed links to products relevant to your content, and then you get a cut of any sales. There are quite a few other affiliate advertising options out there, I just highlight those because most people are familiar with them.
If you have a huge following on a social media platform you could consider yourself a potential "influencer" and those folks can monetize a different way, by featuring or promoting specific items in their social media posts (e.g. product placement, reviews, discount codes) that they work out with specific partner sellers. They can be paid a flat fee, or often receive free products in exchange for posting a review or featuring the item(s) in their content. If a coupon code is used, they might receive a cut of all sales related to the code.
Some folks will create their own line of products related to their content, or general merch such as clothing, stickers and the like (kind of like what we do over at the Swag.Haus). If you have a regular audience, creating limited edition runs of merch that gets featured in your content, or comes with some perk such as getting your name mentioned in a video or access to other exclusive content, can bring in some extra dough. There are also third party services such as Patreon where you can sell membership access to exclusive "behind the scenes" or special content that augments your regular public content.

Thank you. I'm way behind the times, but after a half dozen search attempts, found that Boxxy's net worth is one million dollars.

I wanna try my hands at blogging too. First I gotta finish this other project though. I’ll share some information about blogging later when I have time.

Here's a decent link on how to write a good blog post, which I found, incidentally, on an old Shroomerite's blog: Raptitude.com.

I think there is some truth to that. I wish the price of books would drop. LOL I still read. But I have never read blogs.

Wordpress is tough to beat as an easy to use platform if you want to keep costs low, and set up a simple blog. Can even start on the .com if you aren't ready for self hosted.
Find a theme, but more importantly just start writing. Figure out a few topics you want to talk about, line up 5 posts to start then set a posting cadence and stick with it. Share your posts on social media, forums, wherever your target audience is and grow from there.
