I just had an interesting thought.
    #28221792 - 03/09/23 05:41 AM (10 months, 15 days ago)

I am nothing?

As it stands it is formative by having the nature of a category at all.

Because it is the most obvious thing.. that you are indeed a thing rather than nothing..

Everything in existence leads to this.

But we can construct the notion or thought of nothing as we see it..

Like empty space.

The color black.

Like an amount of volume inside a container perhaps?

What is the realization of the Buddha looking and constantly searching for answers to all of lifes qualms?

Emptiness?

What is that supposed to mean for the person who is acting and observing?

It is entirely filled with potential, which is the magic of emptiness is form. The more nirvanic, the more supercalifragilistic.

Consider the difference in being 'nothing' IE empty, void or without substance and 'noSPACEthing' IE not singularly defined, bound or fully encompassed by an essential THING.

In the documentary "Mission Joy" The Dahli Lama points to the Archbishop Tutu asking (paraphrased), in classic Buddhist fashion:

"Where is the Archbishop? Is he here?" pointing to the religous garb "In here?" pointing to the head/mind "In here?" pointing to the heart/soul.

I reckon he was referencing how hard it is to define the 'start or end point' of the self, since we are, in esscence, where or whatever the spotlight of our internal perception is cast/focused on.

Thats what I consider being no thing.

I think it's supposed to take the sting out of the illusory projections we can easily put onto what/who we think we are, that only serve to drag us down and muddy our experiences.

To me, being nothing (one word) speaks more to being humble, not placing value on status etc which allows the required space to realise/remember your being no thing (two word), which is where you can start to apply your own meaning/importance on what you see/experience around you.

Cheers!

Maybe we’re just dreaming our realities like a nights sleep in REM

I often wonder if Ive inheireted someones karma like my family, and not all aspects of the exterior are as common as they seem deeming me to be nothing at all in a sense

We are no thing in the sense of what a thing even is

What is a thing? An object? Something that can be thought of ? Our nature is that of which is no thing , the experience of experience itself :awesomenod: " anything that objects to consciousness is not consciousness "

Such is why if one seeks for the self one will never find it

Quote:

'Bring a banyan fruit.'

'Here it is, sir.'
'Cut it up.'
'I've cut it up, sir.'
'What do you see here?'
'These quite tiny seeds, sir.'
'Now, take one of them and cut it up.'
'I've cut it up, sir.'
'What do you see there?'
'Nothing, sir.'
Then he told him: 'This finest essence here, son, that you can't even see—look how on account of that finest essence this huge banyan tree stands here.

'Believe, my son: the finest essence here—that constitutes the self of this whole world; that is the truth; that is the self (ātman). And that's how you are, Śvetaketu.'

Well I think emptiness is like the medium of space..; empty until you find something to fill it with.

It's more play on form is emptiness. I think the tendency is to equate emptiness with mind or Brahman. Emptiness is form.

we are empty of a continuous, unchanging and indestructible Soul or Essence. We are like an "Onion", for one thing, it makes you cry, and two, you unravel it to it's core and there's nothing there, and thirdly, (to spell) it goes on and on with an "I" in the middle of it. according to the Buddha our lives are a continuing, changing stream that has an end in Nirvana, but, who's beginning is unfathomable.

I think we're all empty at our core but God builds us up. Like the Emptiness was a canvas and we're the painting. "Creatio ex nihilo" I think it's spelled, "Creation from Nothing".

I've been pondering. What's more powerful and full of unlimited potential, Nothingness (Nirvana) or God (as described conventionally by average Christians). I think God is, it would give life a better purpose and hope if Good ol' Father, Son, and Spirit were behind the scenes of all life. in my opinion anyways. (all the Hell and Damnation stuff makes me a little nervous but that's the fear of the Lord I live with.)

Nothing doesn't/can't exist. for nothing to exist it would still need some container to exist in. Even nothing is something. The concept of it alone is something. Nothing does not exist.

I've had a similar thought, but in a reverse way.

I think this is what people might mean when the speak of "The All". There's a diversity of everythingness inside a oneness. "All" is "one", and "one" is "all". The use of the word "the", implies that "all" is a single entity. I never knew what people meant when they used that term "the All", but now it makes a lot of sense.

I believe the reverse works equally. It's perhaps why I felt that infinity is equivalent to "true nothingness".

Conceiving of "nothingness" still requires a prism from which to understand it. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure "true nothingness", like "infinity", can exist in the normal way we conceive of things, but I don't know. I've been humbled before...

Because it has no limits.. the beyond of infinity(the Boundless sate/ground zero) is unexistent. There for nothing is beyond everything..

The ain in kabbalah is the high attainment meaning nothing.

The second highest attainment is Ain sof.. the never ending.

The Tathata, pick a word, is suchness, that which IS without concept, conceiving. It is the emptiness, nothingness, or All, the same as the wonder, the love, the bliss, the prana, life force, the magic, the spirit, beauty, power. It is pervasive, even within and around concept and things. It is the chitty chitty bang bang that makes the old jalopi fly. It is enjoyed at the surface and it is depthless, subtlety and power beyond anyone's knowing. All anything does ever is name it.
