So i know a bunch of people have been asking me to write down my Tiny Tub Tek for a while now. Im no good at writing these so i have been putting it off for a long time now, but here is my Tiny Tub Tek.
Firstly you are going to need to go to Walmart or a Sterilite outlet and get you some 2.5 quart lock lid tubs, they go for about 2.50$ and are normally in stock. next you need to gather your tools, you will need: *your tiny tubs *a 1/4 drill bit *synthetic filter disks, preferable ptfe ones *a sharp knife or scalpel to trim off the plastic near the drill site *measuring tape Once you have everything gathered go ahead and get your drill out and make 4 holes along the top part of the bottom line as shown in pic ref #1. one on each side and in the middle of each side. now the idea is to have these vent holes at sub level, so if you like having more substrate in you bins you can drill the holes just a little higher, that's fine, as long as the bottom of the FAE hole is touching the top of the substrate. now for the next two holes drill your 1/4 hole, one inch from the very top of the tub on the short sides of the tub. as shown in example #2 once you have all 6 holes drilled use your knife to cut off any plastic that may be left hanging onto the holes. then take your PTFE SFD (synthetic filter disks) and cover up each one of the holes. this part is not entirely necessary, but it really helps keep the gnats out and will help keep the humidity high. and your done making your tub.
As instructed above when filling your Tiny Tub you want the sub to be level with the bottom part of the side vents, this will help create a even surface condition. when i fill my tiny tubs i personally use 1/4 myco quart of spawn then fill to the line with coir/verm or what ever your preference is, then mix thoroughly and pack down hard, add more sub straight to the top and keep packing down till you are even with the bottom vent hole. You can mist the tub once its packed if you like, but if you follow the 5x water to dry coir rule, you should be fine and in a matter of hours the humidity should rise.
now that your done you can place your adorable Tiny tub on your computer desk and watch them grow from, the convince of your chair. Happy growing!

Any experience using these unmodified? I have one of these going atm and it's just starting to pin with only the lid flipped. We will see if the fruits are lacking fae or not. Was considering doing something similar if they come out lanky. Nice write up.

Use the search function and look up unmodified tubs. There are plenty of members that don't modify with great successπ

Thanks, I was specifically talking about these 2.5 qt tubs. I have plenty of other unmodified tubs going on.

yeah they will work with out modifying it, but if you want to grow something with some girth you gona want good air flow. the lids are not air tight so there will be some gas exchange, but for a proper pin set you might wana cut some holes in the tub.

hell yeah dude, these look awesome! had no idea they even existed. the fact that these can stack is super cool, these would be great for small personal amounts or clone/pheno hunting. they even seem to leave the perfect amount of headroom for fruits. might have to run to walmart tomorrow to swoop a few... i'll take any excuse to get a new tub great photos too!!
