Oh Em Gee!!!! Finally
    #2821596 - 06/23/04 05:38 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I've finally got them... but the real question is why only around the base?

Finally got some cakes to fruit!!!! But yeah what would cause them to only fruit around the base like that? humidity was low... that has been corrected... and they never had complete darkness (dark but not pitch black) which is not good either... but would that cause them to only pin around the base?

I would say low humidity and those cakes look a little dry to me. You could have dunked them before fruiting. Also the perlite looks way too wet, if that is the case it will not give off required humidity. Water at less than half the level of the perlite will do.

I just added more water to the perlite before I took those pics... so that probably explains why the perlite looks too wet.

I tried dunking one cake to see if it would help, and it didn't.

When this batch is finished, dunk 'em and roll 'em in verm.  You'll find yourself getting pins everywhere.

I know a guy who did cakes some time back, and he would inject sterile water into the cakes when they got dry. It worked for him.
