invisible contam

sometimes i get this invisible contam in my jars that cause the substrate to turn to mush (pun intended :tongue:) and there ends up being like and inch of water at the bottom, does anyone know what im getting and how i can best prevent it.

I dont think that would be possible...how could more water get into the jars than you put in? Is it possible that you are over hydrating? Is it mush on the bottom and dry on top?

Yeah, it's a bacterial contam. The only thing you can do is to use better sterile technique and to sterilize properly. You might also want to look into using tyvek, if you're currently using polyfill.

Agree with Sev, bacterial contamination or also yeast contamination. It looks transparent, dissolving the substrate and building up liquid at the bottom.
