My Finger Scan Class Action Settlement

I knew I was in this class action against a former employer. I worked there just under a year, and never got converted from temp (Ron's Staffing) to hire. I got a check today for over $740 from the Ron's Finger Scan Settlement, based on the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. I knew there was 5 million in the pot, but was expecting my cut would be less. One theory was that Ron's had a large number of undocumented employees, and maybe they had barriers to joining the suit. The lawyers must have done well.

Nice, and yeah, the lawyers assuredly made out like bandits... learning what they walked away with might make you feel like you just got robbed even though you actually got a windfall.
Tezos (the cryptocurrency project) had a class action lawsuit relating to their Initial Coin Offering that landed me a similar $-value settlement check, and there may even be a residual payment in a few months in the event class members neglect to cash their portion, it theoretically goes back into the pot for redistribution to active claimants. Definitely the largest class action settlement I've received... they're often worth less than the postage it took to ship the check!
