I found these outside this morning:

They match fairly closely to Coprinus cinereus.

Note the small, cylindrical button near the middle of the photo - it's fuzzy brown with universal veil! As they expand, the veil becomes much more difficult to see, although several of the caps show patches of fuzzy brown universal veil.

They were growing from muddy, clayey soil with redwood mulch under a white oak and a decorative pear.
