Cultivating wild morning glory for seeds

Historically, my vegetable garden has often had morning glory grow as a weed. If I'm interested in saving/using seeds from the wild pants is there anything I should do to foster that or to make them go to seed quicker? Wine be an issue for several months, but trying to plan ahead.

Have you identified the particular species? That would definitely matter for alkaloid content. If you intend to consume or extract them and not just use it for the garden, you should know that some species don't contain very much alkaloids or only relatively unknown alkaloids. Only two species, I. Tricolor and I. Corymbosa, are reliably a good source of LSA. I see that some varieties of I. violacea are good sources of alkaloids (esp. the varieties 'pearly gates' and 'heavenly blue') while others aren't.
When it comes to other species - some contain unknown or understudied alkaloids, some contain none. Sometimes a strain of the same species does not produce alkaloids (due to lack of the appropriate fungal symbiont) and is a 'dud'.
I am sorry I cannot offer gardening advice, but I do think you should make an effort to identify the species if you ever plan to consume. Even if you don't plan to consume, species ID might help identify proper growing parameters.

I agree totally
If you want Morning glories for the LSA, then just go buy you some heavenly blues seeds, and grow those out
All of the wild ones contain very little, to no alkaloids in them at all.

Welcome
You can get four packs of seeds at the dollar tree for $1.25, and they always have an over abundance of all the good morning glories here every year, especially the heavenly blues
