Hey yall I'm Davey and I've recently ordered a Salvia Microphylla plant in hopes to hopefully clear up some misinformation around it, I've never done any of the active salvia chemicals (Salvinorin A and B) but supposedly Salvia Microphylla is psychoactive and has hallucinogenic properties and might contain Salvinorin but from my research this seems to have a huge question mark over it, I'm hoping I can clear that up and document the process.
My plans for documentation is to document basically everything, how the plant looks, smells, tastes, etc. I will hopefully include pictures. When time comes to extract the petals and other parts of the plants I will do a variety of methods to feel the effects from it. I will make extracts, tinctures, smoke the raw plant, and quid it. I will report any findings here.

Hey Davey!
I'm highly interested in your projekt, as I'm actually looking forward to do some salvia related experiments this year my self again!
I did quite some research about the different active salvias and i found nemorosa, pratensis, dorrii, russian sage and of course the thujone related content of officinalis and white sage the most fascinating.

But i never found some reports or anything about mycrophylla. I saw there are many different variety and cultivars around, have you already purchased seeds and which one did you chose?
looking forward to your reply & greetings

Hi fantanyl! Im buying a live plant rather than the seeds just to speed up the project, I bought it from etsy from what seems to be a reputable seller, The name of the cultivar is "hot lips".

ah yeah this one looks nice, very fancy bloom!
good luck with the project & and very excited to read about the results! Maybe I'll join in and will cultivate this one this year, too, but i don't know if too many different salvia species could be counterproductive for future generations as i heard some plants of the same genus can cross pollinate and mess up the genetics - i heard you shouldn't cultivate fennel and dill to close together because of this ..

S. recognita has (212.86 ± 20.46 μg/g Salvinorin A, I seem to remember that Divinorum has ~350 μg/g Salvinorin A so it's pretty close (from https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28722248/ mentioned above) Salvia recognita - Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org would make a nice garden plant I think.
