Im at 49 N (about 1 hour south of the actuall line)and it grows amazing here. Out doors is definatly the way to grow it. Generally when i buy a smallish 4" pot and put it out in early spring it often only doubles teh first year. but the following year that sucker gets HUGE.

There are no "fruits" so to speak in the traditional sense of fruit being an apple or orange. They throw out long caliptras with small flowers on them that you can harvest and use as a tea. The tea is actually very sweet, i like it. I drink it when i'm sick. Here's a pic, i don't want to resize it since it's very close. -http://www.palavenderfestival.com/news/photos_media/images/lavender_plant_closeup.jpg-

Thats what i grow along with th efrench lavendar. Its flowering now, and just last night i made a huge pot of tea. Very pleasent. There is also a plant that grows in the hills around here. It Looks similar to french lavedar but when you look closely at the leaf it isnt on serated leaf its a bunch of furry little leaves on a stem. It has white flowers that grow in a bunch rather than a stalk. It smells identical to lavendar, and tastes great in a mix tea. I also like to add the greens to salads.
so neuro, what sorts do you grow?

I think it's originally from Mexico and central America, the astecs used to make a beverage called "tchocolath" which was bitter and peppery, it's made with the seeds. I don't think they grow wild here, but there are plantations for commercial purpose.

lol, they do do that! Actually some people belive hot peppers are...whats the word for it? dunno but they are supposedly used for relaxation (im told like MILD MILD budd). i never get anythign but a sore mouth and hot face, but hey heard it from a few people so maybe there is something.
Butterfly nice collection. What type of yews you got? We got lots of western yews (fucking killer wood!!!!) and lots of dogwwod (provincial flower) allong with some of the smaller plants like lily of the valley and birch maple and such. they make such pretty backdrops for gardens here. And look superb in forest settings. sounds liek a beautifull garden.

Kadakuda: "just got a hold of some non hybridized st johns wort, so im going ot get a little patch going with the seeds."
I'm not sure what 'non-hybridized' means, but I do know that St. John's Wort may diminish the effects of certain drugs. It seems to work through altering the liver's level of an enzyme that'll modify drugs before excretion.
I stumbled onto your post looking for posts on grapefruit, which appears to have the opposite effect on this enzyme.
If anyone is interested, a short article which explains this stuff well can be found online:

Good luck.

i tried tomatoes for shits and giggles. was kind of fun, but i must have dirt!:) what i meant by non-hybridized st johns wort was not that stuff nurseries pass off as H. perforatum. everywhere here its that vine type crap that they say is used in medicine. anyway i got in touch with one of the indian bands here and was shown a variety of plants, including wort. anywho turns out its everywhere here, so now i got my little patch started it SEEMS to work quite good for my knees. placebo or not i aint complaining. thanks for that article, it is really interesting! maybe i shall stop having my evening tea with this plant is it somthing that stays in our system for a long period, or would it dissapate? i have been taking st johns wort for a few years, just now im starting to take it in raw form. anyway thanks again it was a really good read. If i were to continue taking st johns wort, but also had X amount of grapfruits/juice would it cross each other out or what?

First off, what does SJWort do for your knees? I've got bad hockey knees myself and am always looking for something that may help.
Second, I'm no expert on the cytochrome p450s (although I'm doing a fair bit of reading on 'em these days) but if Wort works by modifying transcription levels of these enzymes, then it will have a long-term effect... perhaps on the order of weeks or months from eating - I don't know for sure.
Personally, I wouldn't sacrifice something healthy just to get a bigger kick out of my shroomies. I would keep taking SJW and just take more shrooms. As a matter of policy, more shrooms is always a good thing anyway. Also, since grapefruit appears to work on the P450s directly, it would probably override any effect of the SJWort, and that effect is temporary.
Currently I'm doing empiric research on when & how much grapefruit juice a man has to take to have a noticeable effect on shrooms. It's a long-term project, but by far the most enjoyable experiment I've ever conducted...
