Anyone think that the Rihanna halftime show was one of the worst in recent memory?
On that note, who do you think had the best Half-Time show that you've seen?
I'm kinda partial to the timberlake/janet jackson one for obvious reasons, but in terms of quality of performance, i'd go with Tom Petty or The Boss (Bruce Springstein for all the young people)

Honestly i thought it was one of the best. The choregraphy and dancing, the use of red and mirrors, the floating platforms, how she blended her songs together, her subtle changes to her songs. I thought it was incredibly well done.

I felt like the choreography of the background dancers was okay, but she had practically no choreography. She just stood there and lip sync'd her songs, and most of the time, not even convincingly so. I kept waiting on someone else to come out, because surely they wouldn't have an entire halftime show of just her...but they did.
I just feel like someone who hasn't toured or released new music in the better part of a decade was kinda a weak choice for one of the biggest performances of the year.
Aside from the platform thing, which was pretty cool...i just felt like it was a bit lackluster
I respect that you have a different opinion, and am in no way attempting to discredit your way of thinking. just explaining mine.

They seem to have given up on classic rock, for a younger look. Diehard football fans tend to be older, but the SB draws a wider audience, so it was probably the right move even though I don't like the music.
The funny thing was Marjorie Taylor Greene saying the woke acts all sucked but Chris Stapleton was great. Somebody had to tell her that Stapleton is a BLM supporter. Right wingers always get the wrong impression of pop music. They think Born in the USA and Keep on Rockin' in the Free World are patriotic anthems. They think John Mellencamp is a conservative because of a couple of his songs, but he refuses to stand during the National Anthem because it glorifies war.

I get what you're saying on the political and social climate of it. I was purely looking at the entertainment aspect of it, because I typically try not to discuss politics in this day and age. so many people have such a "my way or the highway" attitude toward politics that it's easier just to not talk about it.
entertainment-wise, I honestly kept waiting on someone bigger or more relevant than rihanna to come out. I mean...she hasn't released an album or gone on tour in 7 years. just seems like she's not the quality of musician we usually get.

I think the last two halftime shows are the way it will continue to go, which is away from rock. It was funny because 2 years ago it was rap, but still old guys. They're moving ahead, but still playing it safe.
My opinions are irrelevant because I listen to almost nobody who came out this century. Guitar rock is nearly dead, either figuratively because of trends or literally because the good ones are 70 years old. Pearl Jam maybe, but they might not be quite popular enough.
