Today (not much change)

I don't know if I want to send it to grain or just let it grow. Opinions?

In my experience, pda will ensure plins-o-plenty with sclerotia producing species.

That last one is pretty interesting. It's like the mycelium shot out in a direction and when it hit the wall it just pinned.Quote:

Quick question from a former lurker on this thread, a total plin virgin, now afflicted with severe pin lust, plinvy even:
I saw Nichrome mentioning opening a plate briefly, for air exchange, to encourage pinning. I'm assuming that a mature, more or less fully covered plate/jar will have similar resistance to contamination that fully colonized spawn does, just before spawning to bulk. Is this correct? Do I open the jar (in my case) just once, or once every couple of days or similar? Is there anything else I can do to encourage plins? I gotta have me a plin people. Help me out here.

If you’re asking about opening your plate in open air, don’t. Regardless of whether your plate contams out, if you get a plin it won’t be clean anymore.

Add a pinch of nutritional yeast to your agar. You’ll be living in plin city in no time

These make sense. Thank you all.
@MojaveMyc, would that be brewers yeast, or is nutritional yeast something different?

Nutritional yeast is different, yeah. Should be easy to find in your grocery store’s bulk section or health food section. It’s a popular vegan food item.

Nutritional yeast is supposed to taste like cheese. I have to admit I haven't worked up the courage to taste it yet.
