Help! Dry and need more fae!
    #28187307 - 02/14/23 03:28 PM (1 year, 10 months ago)

I've picked a few of my shrooms already but now all my pins have basically stopped growing and a bunch look super dry. The soil has shrunk and it looks dry, but I also get fuzzy feet from lack of fae on pins and shrooms. I have been misting probably 4 times a day pretty heavily. Is there something I need to do? My substrate isn't fully colonized so I doubt dunking will work.

Yup, looking dry!  Are you keeping your lid on the tub, unlatched?

You need less FAE. Answer whatisanerd's question so we can help you.

Fix your FAE so that the surface conditions are closer correct and mist them.  That is NOT fuzzy feet from too much moisture/low FAE.

This is what you are looking for before first flush - the surface always gets a bit damaged on second flushes but if things were right during the first flush, the rest will happen pretty much on it's own.

Proper Surface Moisture / When to Increase FAE

This advice is too late for this particular tub, but I'm guessing your main issue here is that your substrate wasn't hydrated enough when you first set up the tub. Either that, or it was exposed to way too much free/dry air.

But if I were you, I'd keep it covered fairly well, and keep misting until the surface conditions look right. The coir should really be a shade darker than that.

Yeah don’t worry about fuzz it happens from genetics mostly ime. If you don’t have enough fae you’ll be able to tell by the way the pins grow. They’ll be really long and skinny from reaching for air.
