Growth changed from tomentose to rhizomorphic mid plate?
    #28184334 - 02/12/23 04:29 PM (1 year, 10 months ago)

I had almost given up on this plate (from MSS syringe), suspecting it to be mold but suddenly the leading edge transformed into a much more familiar look. Does anybody know why or how this happens? Could it be related to a change in temperature? It recently became much warmer and less humid.

With utmost care and precision,I work to achieve my fungal mission.
Sterilizing all my tools and space,to ensure not a single spore is out of place.
I carefully select the fungal strain and onto the agar, I make it rain.
With a steady hand and gentle touch, I inoculate the plate without a hitch.
Success is sweet when it's pure and true, and my agar plates are a testament too. A job well done, with no contamination, my fungi inoculation, a thing of  admiration.

That's what I was afraid of, but the growth edge suddenly straightened out which made me wonder if its a 'thing' for mycelium to go from fuzzy chaotic to orderly straighter growth..

Idk about that plate, but nutrient level and how deep the agar is will change growth. Thinner plates tend to go rhizo ime. I never noticed until I cooled a stack of plates at a slight angle one time, all of them grew tomentose on the thick side and turned rhizo on the thin side.
