Cannabis Seed's.

How long can you keep seed's hanging around? And what's the best way to store them. The seed's I currently have are stored in a plastic zip lock bag in the fridge. I believe I read somewhere you can stick them in the freezer to keep them for many years.

Thoughts please.

I've had seeds from the 70s within a ziploc stored in a box that germinated. Seeds last a LOOOONG time in dark and dry conditions.

i don't really like to freeze seeds. not saying they won't germinate later...i just don't like to do it. i'd rather put them in an airtight vial, maybe with a small dessicant packet or a grain of rice or 2 to soak up moisture. there's really no need for dessicant as long as they're dry though.

Excellent, best suggestion yet. This is what I shall do. Thank you sir.

I keep all my seeds in dram vials that get put into a mason jar and then stuck in the crisper of my fridge.

Seeds stored in paper bags in a dry cool place for several months and then frozen in an air tight container will last for years. But I don't bother freezing, I just use paper bags and place in a cool dry dark drawer.

None the less, I have inadvertently thrown out Cannabis seeds by the hundreds in bubble bag waste to the garden. All winter, night after night, month after month, they were frozen in the icy mud in temps down to -9C to then thaw during the day. Come spring and hundreds of them were germinating. I dug them under, I can't afford the risk. Clearly Cannabis seeds are very tough.

My advice:

get some nice potting mix from your local garden store, put the seeds in that, just under the surface. Keep them somewhere sunny and they'll keep for at least, umm, well depends what season it is there

But you'll have to water it every other day! Important!
