Brain-computer interfaces. I want to be a cyborg. Typing on a keyboard just seems so crude.

AI. Cliche to say right now, but there have been major advancements in the industry in the last 5 years or so, and some of the best and brightest minds on earth are working hard on the problem. The potential applications are way beyond what you might imagine. It's going to be like a second industrial revolution in that it'll put a ton of people out of work. Artists, actors, musicians, fast food workers, designers, writers, engineers, mathematicians, teachers, programmers, truck drivers, pilots. That's all long term mind you, but that's coming.
That's the downside, the upside is when you can say "hey computer, make me a movie starring arnold schwartzenegger and brad pitt about robots on mars with a sound track by the beatles" and it does. Or when you say "draw me a comic with the following story" or "design the schematics for a device that does this" and so on. And that's just the easy stuff.
Genuinely crazy stuff is going to happen in the next 50 years with AI.

What a lot of these AI systems are doing now is some pretty sophisticated pattern matching under the hood. Patterns that humans have missed or not even looked at because of the sheer amount of data. E.g. the AI can pour over a ton of medical data and answer that there were no signs of illness A, when B, C and D was done. Or that E and F was always associated with an illness G. Something that humans would not even consider looking at but the AI algorithms just see as plain and clear datapoints. Stuff is getting exciting.
