Manure Sub Tek? Kind of a specfic science question

OK so i just moved and my neighbor has horses and they said i could take as much manure as i want. They feed them a organic oat blend and straw. Is there a really good tek behind making a good manure sub?
I know that everyone on here always says that manure is just going to contam, but there has to be a way, without using a autoclave. I have used a few commercial manure subs that have worked great, but they are expensive.
they are coprophilous at the end of the day. They have naturally evolved to grow on manure for a reason. I find that shrooms grown with manure are much more potent, so there has to be a way to use manure properly. And i have the perfect source now.
Thanks again

try it out, why not it's free don't take my word for it but I remember reading something about high ammonia content in horse manure so you might want to consider that

First, you want to pasteurize your manure and not sterilize it, so don't use an autoclave or a PCer for the manure. If it is sterilized, it's best to treat it like sterilized grain and it demands aseptic inoculation. You can't treat it the same as pasteurized substrate, so no open-air spawning, and no letting it colonize in non-sterile containers / environments.
Second, you want it to age in the field first. Let the rain and sun do it's thing before collecting it. If you collect it fresh, you'll need to age it yourself before using.
Third, the oats they are being fed end up in the manure. Some of them don't get fully digested, so you end up with highly nutritious grains in your bulk substrate. This can become a vector for contamination, and adds to the difficulty in using it. Purely grass fed manure is more desirable to use as a substrate. For this reason, I switched to cow manure, but it's a LOT more difficult to break apart. It can be done with the right method of preparation though.

if you want to pay on easy mode join the bottle gang. takes the stress out of nutritious subs. mix, cook, inoculate, harvest

There is no correlation between manure and potency. If you just want more potent "shrooms" look into pan cyan non cubensis. With that said proper aged poo is fuckin amazing. I pasteurized it and swore by it for years. I have even had luck using store bought right out of the bag with Pans. If i could easily get it for free i would. I would use it for dozens of things. An indoor cube grow probably wouldn't be one of them.
