Please help my Loph

Hello interwebs!
There's something wrong with my Loph, its gone all squishy. I'm not sure what to do. I been googling but couldn't find much help.
If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it, I'm sure mr Loph would too rather than dying a slow death.

So the backstory, I was gifted mr Loph on my birthday a couple of years ago. I was told it needed a new pot so I bought some cactus potting soil and repotted him. A year later I moved house and he ended up living indoors for another year. During that time he was fluctuating between getting soft and hardening up which I thought was abnormal but I never looked into it.
Recently I decided to do some searches on loph care and I suspect my soil was too nutrient rich and holding too much water. I decided to repot him in some bonsai mix but he seems to be getting worse. I uprooted him again to get these pictures so hopefully I can get some pointers in the right direction to help him.
I hope he can be healed and any advice is much appreciated,
Thanks a bunch in advance,
J

I can’t see any signs of rot which is good. Usually San Pedros go soft when they need a bit of water. Is your soil dry? Have you tried just watering it?

It went soft after my last watering. I was worried that it was rotting because it was in a cactus/succulent mix that tends to hold water and takes a bout a week to dry out sometimes more. I then transferred it into a bonsai mix for maximum drainage and lower nutrient content which dries out in a couple of days or even one particularly in our summer here.
It did just occur to me that it has been a really hot couple of weeks so I'll try give it some more water and keep an eye on it.
Thanks Bardy for the reassurance to my little freak out. Will report back in the next couple of weeks and see how we go <3

No worries. Next time it’s probably not necessary to pull it out of the ground, might not be real good for it because you probably will break off some of the little roots. It’ll survive though.
It is normal for them to fluctuate between hard and soft a bit I think, but I’ve never grown them myself

You’ll have much better luck I’d say by posting here in this thread: Lophophora Growers Unite! Lots of knowledgeable memebers there. Best of luck.
