First time grower here, looking for some reassurance 🤞
    #28179620 - 02/09/23 02:36 PM (1 year, 11 months ago)

Hi, I'm on my first attempt of a mushroom grow. I bought a fresh grow kit from a reputable online store. Unfortunately, when it arrived, I followed the wrong set of instructions and filled my tub with water and placed them in the fridge. I took out 9 hours later and then put in the bag with 150ml and misted. Anyway, the water leaked from the perforated holes and I contacted the supplier thinking I had the wrong bag and they informed me I'd done them wrong. I went straight home, emptied the water out and set them up the correct way. So, my first question would be, do you think they'll survive this episode?

I've set them up on top of a kitchen wall unit next to a window (not in direct sunlight), the temp currently in that room was about 17-18 degrees on average so I ordered a reptile heat mat. It's a bit trial and error as there's no temp on the adjustable dial. I've come home today and tested the base of the tub with a thermometer and it was 36.6°c (97.88 degrees fahrenheit). I've took them off, turned it off and turned it right down and lifted them up off the mat a little more. So, again I'm wondering if they'll survive this or could I have prevented them from growing.

Any thoughts are welcome, thanks, Matt.

get rid of the heat mat. temps over 58f are more than enough for cubes & you’re way more likely to fuck shit up with a heat mat. 90f+ is getting way too hot, dries out the substrate, & can cause contaminates to flourish. it’s significantly better to be on the cold side of things. adding stuff like heat mats & fans is just asking for trouble

post pics if you want more specific answers but for now i’d just leave it in the bag, make sure it’s moist & let it do its thing until it starts to pin. no real way to tell if it’s beyond saving without pics or just giving it time
