It can be done!
I took a small leafless stem cutting back in October, before my Heavenly blues bit the dust due to cold, and much to my surprise, about two weeks later it rooted, and now I have this.
This was just an experiment to see if it could be done, and it could

Nice job on the cutting
I'm so sorry. I didn't know
Thanks to the both of you
I hope to keep it alive until spring, so I can take cuttings from it and skip the seed route!

Great job!
I've had a lot of success with cuttings from viney plants, they are forgiving. How long was the portion you put in the dirt?

Thanks! The cutting was like two or three inches long, very small.
I didn't actually think that it would root, because there is very little info on the net about rooting them from cuttings. It just said that it is possible, but better to start them from seeds.
Well, I tried it with some rooting hormones, and it worked like a charm!

When in doubt, dunk it in rooting hormone

Yes! It never lets me down, except for with my grape vine cuttings. They are impossible!

I would think it would be relatively easy to grow a morning glory from a cutting, perhaps even without rooting hormone.

Oh yeah, I'm sure. I just never have attempted to do it before, and I just thought I'd post my success
