Agree - would like to see some guidelines like how long to leave it open, whether to just set it somewhere or wave it around, is the HVAC running while you do it or any fans in the room, etc.

This is how the plate looks like now:
I think ruawakeyet is probably right about it having something to do with the hardness of the agar because this plate is not showing anything growing even though I have opened it a lot of times and even waved it around to try to catch something from the air. I'll use less agar from now on.

Still no visible contams on the control plate even though it's been over a week. I really need to avoid too hard agar in the future.

So I did a new test with plates made with softer agar (8g instead of 10g) and I could see some bacterial colonization within a couple of days. Issue is solved.
