Is this correct agar?
    #2816625 - 06/22/04 11:04 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

? found something where I buy all my stuff to brewing something called "agarclear"(translated), its powder sold in bags on 9 grams, I think its used in wine production somehow. Can this be used in a agar recipe? I also found ordinary malt extract not light malt extract wich is mentioned in a recipe, its a brown syrup, is this ok to use?

I think it's a clearing agent -- not suitable for use as, well, agar.

It is brown because it is partially caramelized, something you generally don't want. It could work, but not as good as the light syrup or powder.
