Stamets says that too much dextrose/fructose any sugar will cause a profound decrease in potency. You may get a better yeild, but the shrooms wont be potent. Just use up your rye flour like you would if it was BRF and youll be happy with the potency.

I've tried both and BRF seems to work much better. Rice has no gluten so the resulting "cake" isn't as sticky and dense as rye. If you can't get BRF at the health food store then make it yourself. All you need is some long grain brown rice [organic preferably] and a blender or coffee grinder. Just toss in the rice a 1/4 cup and a time and zap it. You will get a lot of small chunks unless you sift and regrind them, but it will still work just fine with the chunks, actually seems to colonize faster too.
