Wood lovers paralysis and serotonin syndrome

Serotonin syndrome can cause a wide range of effects. These include, agitation, confusion, dilated pupils, diarrhea, fever, goose bumps, headache, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, insomnia, loss of coordination, muscle rigidity, nausea, seizures, shivering, sweating, tremors, twitching, and vomiting. Stopping use of medications that cause serotonin syndrome will usually result in recovery within a day or two. In rare cases users of Psilocybin mushrooms report negative side effects, typically with large and potent wood decomposing species. This is referred to as wood lover’s paralysis. Effects usually include an impairment of motor function that last longer than the psychedelic effects. Also, often reported are many other serotonin syndrome type effects such as gastrointestinal upset, nausea, and vomiting. Serotonin syndrome is caused by an overabundance serotonin in the body. Could this could occur with psilocybin because it binds to serotonin receptors?
 What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Was going to grow some wood lovers next summer. But now I'm not sure. I can't really take any more nausea

I really think that WLP is a very rare symptom usually caused by extremely high doses. Nausea is fairly common with most mushrooms, making tea helps reduce this. I say grow the wood lovers and make tea, just don't take a whole ounce at once.

Wood lovers are awesome, they’re potent and 99% of the time give amazing experiences from very little material Most of my experiences have been with P. subaeruginosa and I’ve never had any negative symptoms (other than maybe some slight runny stuff at the end of the experience ) Definitely give growing a shot, maybe I’ll learn something from you haha

I enjoyed growing but my mental health deteriorated towards the end of the grow. Weird.
Have an endless supply of woodchips I want to inoculate massive piles in my forest
More research needed

Wood lovers are more DMT like IMO
WLP is very really and has happened to many people although I have never had it.
It is temporary though and Benadryl supposedly helps if you get it.
I say grow them

It's pointless to debate what causes it. We won't know without actual scientific study into it.

I think with a pooling of reports and a understanding of tryptamines and neuroscience. We could make some inferences at least. I think serotonin syndrome is a strong theoretical explanation based on the similarity of effects and the known action of Psilocin binding to serotonin receptors. It will probably take a individual being administer to the hospital for WLP and the physicians performing multiple tests to determine the cause before we will know for sure. In the meantime I personally enjoy debate and speculation.
