You'll feel all the better for it. I got some transfers and grain innoculations done the other day that I've been neglecting for atleast a week.

from what I've heard it's not worth how much it would cost? plus I also heard you can't store power long term.. so that doesn't sound like something I would want to invest in personally... I could buy a couple small generators and run the few space heaters I need to keep water lines from freezing up a whole lot cheaper

Photovoltaic efficiency is still very low. Still aint worth it to me. Battery/energy storage technology still sucks, hard.

This was the case until fairy recently. I just completely overhauled my off-grid solar from a tiny 12v system barely able to run my fridge to a 48v, 25kwh LiFePo4 system, 10 days of autonomy without solar input. ROI in 4 years. Batteries will last 25yrs. Solar has come a long way.

Am I a big boy now too?
I was coming down from a trip a few weeks ago and noticed I had 2 people ignoring me. Then the next day it was one. And now it’s back to two. Haha, they should let you pay to see who they are.
You don't have to pay, I confess I blocked and then unblocked you.

Word, solar has come a long ass way! My partner and I are planning to move to SE AK and I've been looking at solar options a lot. I'm blown away not only in how far they have come in capability and price, but in how plug and play modern systems are. Throw in a $500-$1000 wind turbine and you're coving night time and stormy weather when piling on the day's solar banking.
LK is right, absolutely look into solar.
If you live in an area that has year round flowing water, or have a spring with heavy flow nearby, I would also say it's worth a look at Microhydropower units like Pelton wheels. Water flows 24hours a day, seven days a week. Just make sure it's not blocking or interfering with fish migration.

I confess my last tub of nats that I threw out was almost definitely fine. I thought the thick, cheesy growth against the tub was trich waiting to turn green, but it looks like nats just do that.
Oh well!

I threw a perfectly good tub away once because I forgot I had dropped it and saw green bruising

I confess that I've never used a true casing. I need it for Pans, so thought I'd try to follow Faht's recipe at https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27177370#27177370
I wasn't sure about spagnum moss peat. I think I messed up (computer mouse for size):

Anyone in the UK got a link for what I should get??

Bruh, in the UK and don't know peat? Our collective ancestors weep.
I tried to search up some examples of gardening peat for sale in the UK, but it looks like all sales of peat for gardening were banned starting in 2024?
Can anyone in the UK confirm this?

I don't know anything about the ban but peat is a non-renewable resource

I mean yeah, with the way the UK went at if for so long it is there. Was a primary heat fuel for a long time.
The problem is coconut coir is also an environmental tragedy on a mega scale.
I'd been toying with soil mixes based off of local products. I hate bark fines and have been wanting to collect rotten wood from the forest to use. I figure if I'm careful and do small scale it will have no impact
It's pretty hard to win, indoor growing is just bad for the environment. We can keep advancing tek to make it have far less of an impact compared to before (efficent LED lights, smaller fans and filter due to less light heat, recycled soil, ect) but it's still not environmentally positive.
If anyone has any soil mixes that don't rely on peat or coir as their primary medium, I would be excited to hear about it!
