hello, being a crohns patient new getting back into mycology....i have to wonder about that....
does anyone have views they would like to share about minimizing GI upset?
back when i was doing it before the talk was, dont eat overly mature mushrooms and that was the only advise....
so for now i am wondering things like....
which varieties of cubensis have the least impact on the GI system? do any special preparation techs help improve negative effects? general tips?
i tend to think higher potency will be good since eating less mushrooms but idk really what to think...
pushing toward a general, more organic type approach, best possible ingredients etc but i really need to be doing anything i can here.
regards

Opposite for me. It rarely doesn’t make me vomit. Destroys my stomach. Tea & fresh are easier on my stomach then anything else.

Mushrooms are a lot of chitin, which is not digestible. If heavy fiber type loads bother your stomach you may want to try cooking with them.
You can also make a heavily strained tea.

idk if its the fiber so much.....but i def recall sometimes i ate some and felt ok and other times suffered nausea....
its a good point tho....i have taken non psychoactive ones as well as supplements so i am familiar with some of these sort of 1:1 extract type ideas...
maybe something like that is good to try...
i wonder about with a tea tho.....is all the medicine water soluble? or its just some we are loosing but softer on the GI kind of thing.....even about dosing im wondering that like, how much would you make in a tea to equal how much eaten? then how would you compare the non-physical effects?
thank you for the input regards

I don’t think its the fiber. I eat a high fiber diet. They mess my stomach up. Tea works better for me because I have so much ginger in it. It burns my throat.

I can relate. Allow me to go a bit extreme, and tell you what things I would absolutely avoid for 30 days straight - at a minimum.
Things To Avoid:
▓ All tomato products including pizza, lasagna, spaghetti, ravioli, and sliced tomatoes in sandwiches ▓ All orange products including orange juice ▓ All forms of coffee, tea, and energy drinks ▓ All forms of alcohol ▓ Over-eating of any kind ▓ No sodas - ever ▓ No alternative drinks other than water ▓ No fast foods from restaurants or processed foods from the grocery store ▓ Avoid reading, watching, or listening to the news - regardless of what's going on ▓ Avoid all forms of television ▓ Avoid websites that do not reveal the most excellent aspects of your developing personality ▓ Avoid people, including friends and family, that make you feel small or deprecated ▓ Don't eat before dosing, and if you can avoid food for the entire experience, avoid it
Things that I would do for myself:
▓ Drink approximately 3/4 gallon of truly purified water per day ▓ Walk long distances or hike or go to the gym if that's an option ▓ Practice 4-7-8 breathing ▓ Practice hot yoga or another form of yoga as often as possible ▓ Practice meditation ▓ Get out in the forest(s) and hike often ▓ Photograph mushrooms in the wild and try to bond with some species in the relaxed sense of the word "bond" ▓ Try to increase your positivity if necessary ▓ Consider helping others who ask similar questions or completely different questions ▓ Eat a more consistent diet unless it is not working for you. Adjust and fine-tune your daily diet by taking notes, literally. ▓ Find seven music albums that help your stomach and peace of mind, and set them aside for your mycology experience that awaits you ▓ Know when to lay down, if necessary, and breathe deeply ▓ Instead of eating the mushrooms raw or dried or in a food, make a tea out of them ▓ Be very mindful of your setting(s) and develop them well in advance so things are aesthetic, euphonic, and supportive ▓ Reduce the amount of stress in your life in general. This may mean relocating, getting a new job, assessing all of your relationships or lack of relationships, etc. ▓ If it is actually helpful to you, and you're certain of it, consider scarcely evaluating the use of Pepto Bismol, Omeprazole, Lomotil, a daily multivitamin, probiotics, and Cholestyramine.
I hope this can serve as some form of help to you and others.
